Left Essendon - Alex Morgan

Francis actually was crook in bed (likely cold) so didn’t get to see him. He was about 1-2 weeks away with calf

It’s very interesting to hear that sort of background on a guy like Morgan.
And had the club not handled him this way, we supporters, not otherwise in the know, might have seen him playing VFL with a lack of confidence in his hammy, and lacking the pace and zip that was a big part of why he was drafted.
Crow is definitely on the right track to get the guy fit and stronger in the legs, so that when he does play he does himself justice and doesn’t fall into the trap of playing part injured or with a lack of confidence.

Done a quad now, hopefully only a short term injury

yep, not good news for the kid.

Plenty of time for him though. Head up lad.

Bugger

Any news on his recovery?

Playing this week isn’t he? If not he’s in full training

Kav! I mean Morg!

He’s named. Really looking forward to the game tomorrow. More than the Hawthorn game. Many potential future stars playing.

Thanks. Hadn’t checked the team. Looking forward to him getting a decent run of games together.

Thought he was pretty good in the vfl. Seems to have that extra few seconds and side step. Doesn’t seem as fast as i expected for the fastest player tested at last year’s draft though.

Maybe a little reluctant to go full pace at the moment.

his first vfl outing he was super quick and everyone looked slow.

I’d say he is easing back into it, I’ve not issue with him slowly building up to running full tilt again, the last thing we need is him to keep injuring himself.

Seemed to have a bit of a cannon left foot. Will watch with interest.

Agree with Nocturnal and RBTC. He’s quick and he can deliver long passes at full tilt. Needs time to settle in, that’s all.

You can see he has talent and his footskills look pretty decent.

At this early stage he doesn’t look comfortable as a defender when he has to go back into packs in aerial situations but you think that will get better over time.

His pace will become a weapon when he re-gains confidence in his body that he’s not going to pull a string.
