List build - where are we going in the next 10,000 posts?

Can we try to pickup Matt Rosaa JNR and Jack Lucosius

Also Archer Reid and Arie Schonemaker

get it done ROSA

Sadly, it looks like hindsight will say we’ll regret not taking the offers for the Tsatas and Hobbs picks. But sounds like we can blame Scott for the Tsatas selection

BIL is involved at Werribee and they’ve been amazing at churning out ready made afl footballers going back to Podsiadly and Barlow.
This is what he gave me when I asked if there’s anyone this year of value.

Riley Bice is a player Essendon needs …. Quick left footer with very good skills

Henderson should be on an AFL list …. Good defensive small …. You need 1 of them ?

Just look at Hawthorn model, good runners at top speed with and without the ball with good kicking skills.
Our team is pitted with slow one paced players,

We need to have our two half back flankers with some pace, Dursma and Roberts as wingers pressing back important to create the run and carry.

3 small forwards 1 hybrid forward 1 tall and 1 medium tall.

Also, get rid of the dead wood and play the kids.

Watching the final series so far, one of the biggest differences between us and those finals team is the dare they have to take the game on and play to their strengths. I almost feel like our coaches have prohibited that dare and ball movement. Because it’s not part of our general make up, when we do take it on it’s as if it’s really manufactured. Biting off more than we can chew with kicks or taking bounces after 1-2 steps. Moving on from Hepp and Kelly is a start but I can’t help but think players like Saad (our one), Roberts, Redman, maybe even Merrett in that Zorko role would be elite. It really opens the ground up. Goes without saying, but the likes of Laverde, McKay etc just can’t be kicking the ball. Martin must move forward up the ground for mine and play like Caracella did back in the day.

First off, what is our strengths? There’s a significant list problem, with many many problems.

And Brad Scott literally said that he was going to put an end to players doing as they please in games…. Because that’s been our culture for 20 years.

We don’t need more of the Worsfold’s style, where the players can be as unaccountable as they wish, and don’t have to follow any game plans.

The game plan foundations need to be laid first, before you start giving players create freedom.

Delist Goldstein and draft Harry Boyd from Norwood.

He’s the favourite for the Magarey medal. I can’t really see a reason why he isn’t on an AFL list already. An absolute weapon.

Each individual has strengths, but our game plan doesn’t enhance them. The way we used Massimo should show you that. As a team we got so mound up with his one vs one losses that we basically hid him in an area of the ground where that would try and be minimised (forward pocket), which actually took away his strengths (creative ball use up the ground)

Basically we were so focused on his weaker points that we couldn’t see what he could become (even after being able to see that enough to draft him)

This isn’t about unaccountable football it’s about using players strengths in a way that enhances them and the team.

What I would say is that at Essendon D’Ambrosio was a classy enough flanker who didn’t like contact, etc etc.

They have skill sets that are translatable, while also having weaknesses. I think Alwyn can definitely make it. Jayden’s more of a question on how his boy holds up, but Alwyn is 20, and has played 20 games. He has plenty of time, and definitely has moments when he looks classy enough to make a difference.

Massimo is Glenn Archer compared to Alwyn. There is a lot of work to do there.

They would be a 15% chance of making it. They have elite speed, but they are soft as butter (still young) and average disposal.

The issue here is a good portion of our kids <23’s are likely dead wood.

While I agree. We need to expose them, taking it from likely, to confirmed.

Then it’s simple move them on in whatever form, and replace them.

I know the vibe around this place is Alwyn is the softest footballer of all time, but I think with another year of growth he’ll be fine. His skill set should be focused on getting it on the outside and using his class and pace to make us better. He doesn’t need to be some bruising contested beast.

He certainly doesn’t need to be this, no. But what he is right now in terms of his complete hesitancy to absorb physical contact makes him a liability and in many ways prevents him actually being able to win enough ball to demonstrate his offensive weapons.

I hope it all comes together because this team is crying out for players with a lick of class and pace. He and his brother taking noticeable strides forward would solve a lot of problems for us.

Selfishly I’m very happy he has t been drafted so far. Not often you find a ruckman who is still mid 20’s that averages 20 disposals, 10 clearances and 40 hit outs each week and has a massive tank on him allowing him to go all day. The big knock on him is that he doesn’t take enough marks and every AFL club wants their ruckman to be the bail out kick on the wing. What Boyd does really well is get back in defence and bring the ball to ground.
I think he has missed the boat but you never know. Probably several players at the club who could have an impact at AFL level

We don’t need anymore Ruckman.

Draper, Bryan, Visentini and Wright is plenty.
