List build - where are we going in the next 10,000 posts?

The Shiel trade was no good, but we don’t need to add mayo.

Those first rounders in the Shiel trade were double-digit not pointy-end top 5 picks. We also got a second rounder back so the cost was not a straight “two first round picks”.

The current state of the list is getting a pretty full on test at the moment.

Top two ruckman down and it appears we have an experienced replacement ready and a rookie arguably close to being able to support.

Two key defenders down yet Lav ready to come in.

Two experienced small forwards in the VFL

Selection pressure in the midfield spot.

Possibility of adding 4 players to the list for backup in the second half of the year.

You can’t change selections made in the past but things are holding up ok to date.

One of the first rounders we traded for Shiel ended up being Caldwell, so in a roundabout way it wasn’t too bad

Clarke.

Anyway, I reckon our number one need now is a premo, line-breaking outside midfielder. Someone in the Josh Kelly mould.

Hopefully we can nab a top tier one with ours or Melbourne’s pick.

Nah I’m pretty big on it being a horrible trade in hindsight. The 2018 and 2019 first rounds were very strong.

If you want to mention the second we got back, it turned out to be pick 42. So not much to be proud of

You can dislike Scott, his coaching, selection but you can’t deny the future is brighter than it’s been for 10+ years I feel.

It’s a shame Hayes went down, I genuinely could see a backline built around the 3 yesterday and Ridley (Prior was decent but I think Hayes has real flexibility in roles, and Ridley).

Every week you want to turn up and win….but I think most Dons fans can see with a couple of NGA prospects coming in it would be elite to have 2 super top end draft picks to boot come the end of season.

It and another later pick turned into Bryan though.

The problem with this is we currently have nobody to replace Merrett. And the options who could become elite have nowhere near his kicking ability. If you take a 4-5 year look at the list he leaves a huge hole.

It is also incredibly dependent on unproven youngsters progressing from favourable starting positions. Reid, Cox, Caddy, Tsatas, Hayes, Bryan, the 2024 draftees etc. This development phase has been something EFC has struggled with in the past.

I think for the first time in a long time we can see where the list build is going. Will be interesting to see who we target as free agents when the whips are cracking in a few years

Everyone has been doom and gloom time for some positivity and optimism get on board farken!

Kane Cornes has gone lid off said he’s all in with Brad and what we are building labeled us as the next Hawthorn also thinks a 10-11 win season would be a good result.

I have less respect for Kane’s opinions than I have for Mick ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ box ■■■■ ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ stick Malthouse’s.

(But I’m a fan of Nino’s lid offedness)

Current market for rising star (discussed on Footy Furnace)

Good to see some of our young players on there. Then adding more talent through first rounders, NGA picks etc.

Liking the look of this list build.

Matt Rosa off to a great start and with Vozzo our list build is in good hands

Interesting that so much of that list of young talent belongs to several recent premiership teams.

Not enough love for Roberts there. But the odds reflect how much money people have already put on and Archie would be a bit of an unknown to most supporters.

There’s only one kid in that list that wasn’t taken 1st round

Most were top 10 picks.

What’s everybodies opinion on this.

Vigo and Gerryn get a few games this year and really show something.

Do we off load Bryan for a high pick?

Gerreyn is a Key forward, and can help out in the ruck. Unlikely to play in the ruck at AFL level.

Visentini is more likely to come in. He’d be just as good, if not better, as any player we draft in the MSD.
