I don’t know, bringing in a 29 yr old basketballer with a fragile body and mental scars seems like a smart play to me. What could go wrong?

Lol. Even at a club other than ours, he’d last as long as the first full-contact tackling session then he’d probably die. He’d wobble off the ground looking like Wile E Coyote after a particularly spectacularly backfired plan.
And given how Dr Frankenstein resigned from the Essendon medical department in disgust at the low standards, if he came to Tulla, it’d somehow even be worse.

I’ve managed to see a fair bit of pre-season training these past 2-3 years and purely from a fans perspective, it’s pretty wild to think of how different the group will look next year.
BZT, Phillips & Stewart feel like forever ago and they were all on the list in 2023 lol

Like players gone in the past i’m sure Draper and Merrett and Ridley were in future plans for Rosa, now he needs to rebuild on the run.
i don’t mind Cal Twomey and Nino saying this draft isn’t that good. it may mean clubs are willing to trade out of it for players.
This is Rosa’s and Essendon 2020 again, let’s not stuff it up this time.

A lot rests on Rosa. His negotiating skills are going to be challenged and I’m not sure that he’s up to it yet.
He will be fine. He’s got experience with trades he’s requested one himself back in the day.

He’s stuffed up Draper’s free agency and re-signed Jones for two years and currently has 2 disgruntled contracted players to placate. At least his drafting has so far been ok.

Very fair points I’m just going to say that in hindsight from me the Jones signing is not looking as bad. He’s the right age and it’s over 2 years when the side is getting gutted. I still would not have done it but not as bad as I thought at first.
The Draper contract if we get pick 6 is ace. It’s hugely overs. The actual work behind it all may have been a little off base but hopefully it gets sorted.

We could have guaranteed pick 6 if they had rejigged things to keep Draper in the top 25%. Still if he can somehow rescue this off-season trainwreck he will have proven himself.

He already has 2 key traits that are very important for his role.
Unlike his predecessor Rosa is trusted and has the respect of player managers and other list managers.

I’d just like to point out that the coach plays Harry Jones whenever he is available.
Rosa giving him a 2 year deal under those circumstances is completely reasonable. Whether the coach should be playing him is another matter entirely.
