No club has been as stuffed as ours
Right now the club is breaking a lot of new groundā¦number of games in a losing streak; how many times we get mentioned in the main stream media; finishing bottom of the ladder; darkest days in yearsā¦why not try this new frontier too!
Agree but 15 is too much
We move some this year then the rest in 2027
Roll the diceā¦the players who Iād get rid of are pretty much junk anyway. Theyāre not helping us now; havenāt shifted the needle in the past and wonāt shift the needle in the future.
15 is a complete stretch and the reality will be maybe half of these will actually end up leaving the club but Iād still stick a big āFor Saleā sign on all of them.
Yep 15 is a stretch but happy to move some this year then more in 2027
Technically we are on a 3 game losing streak the 16 was in one season
15 is a lot but 12-13 isnāt that unusual once you include trades and FA
Which clubs have moved on 12-13 players in one go?
We are all for breaking records. Didnāt we have like 20 debutants in 12 months and about to break our worst losing streak, whatās one more record for this year?
The last time a team had that many debuts would have to be GC and GWS in their first season
And? That is as much because:
- Some poor drafting including exposure to some weak drafts
- Our older players fall off a cliff younger than other sides
- Injuries have also crippled a bunch of potential promising recruits
- We havenāt been able to recruit good players via free agency
- Losing potentially good players because we chose the wrong option.
You can have a young list but not have been rebuilding.
Last year I thought these 5 [AFL inexperienced] players would be next to be delisted -
edwards
unwin
mcmahon
day-wicks
SEH
After the weekend, Iām hoping edwards and day-wicks show they were worth keeping. The club needs to take a punt on 5 fringe players, with success being if 1 becomes a good AFL player.
Not all of the underperforming or often injured older players need to or should be delisted. A few of them will turn their form and fortune around. Reid and Ridley are the most likely. Langford was injured last year, but very good in the 2 previous years including AA squad form. He needs half a season to see if he can get back to that form, or to confirm heās declined with age.
Iād give unwin another year as well. I think thereās far more pressing needs in terms of delisting than him, which could still net like 6 ish list spots.
If weāre looking at players who we could bring in to provide leadership, there is a few who are out of contract as FA at the end of next yearā¦.. itās be worth setting them up as assistant coach/onfield leaders.
Tom Stewart
Max Gawn
Nick Vlaustin
Toby Greene
I think everyone on here who has a pot shot at Caldwell are even more deluded! What do you expect Caldwell to say? Yes weāre rebuilding! Our list is no good?
Itās a question asked during an ANZAC Day promo shoot so heās hardly going to throw the list under the bus is he?
āItās an easy fixā. Really? Then why havenāt you fixed it yet. Extremely poor choice of words, whether he believes it or not.
That pick is now probably 30-35 so not sure it was a good deal for us either in terms of value especially for a guy who averages 12 games a year and then before everyone hates on this and says oh the leadership we brought him in for the leadership. come on seriously he spent 2 years in the leadership group at the suns 2019 and 2020 years they came 14th and last before being removed from the leadership group
I hate the fact I nearly agree with every one of those.
Maybe so. I just think at a promo shoot the question about our current form and by extension the make up of the list is an obvious question to ask and I would expect any player to back their club and list by default.
Should offer take one, get one free.
āGreat listā was an even worse choice of words.
