Agree fully.
It’s a no brainer.

Hold on. Now we are supporting the delist and redraft move?
What alternate reality have I wandered into.
It makes obvious sense to anyone with half a brain.
Yes and no.
Can see your reasoning.
But then you may be stuck with players for 2yrs who might be found to be not up to it. Restricts you list management wise also.
I agree, but I’d prefer they use Brown and Hartley for that. For starters they are uncontracted and secondly due to age they are less likely to have a long term future with us
We can’t just move them to rookie list though like can with contracted players
They’d go back through draft and then likely be lost to other clubs which would not be ideal as they valuable depth
It would make sense regardless who they use (and does it matter when there are no restrictions?)
From a list build perspective, anyone else think we’re light on hbf types? I’m serious when i say this, who comes in if either of saad or McKenna go down? Guelfi?
Hey? Since when? I always thought to move any senior listed player to the rookie list you have to delist them and then hope no-one else picks them up.
it certainly used to be that way. Did something change when delisted free agency started?
I’m talking about a Begley vs Brown type scenario
Begley contracted. Delist him and can move to rookie list. Still paying him the main list contract that’s on.
Brown isn’t. Delist him and only would be able to get on rookie list if lasted until our rookie pick
At least that’s my understanding of it
Happy to be corrected
Depends who we pick up. Above a certain age there’s no minimum contract length.
I’m almost certain if we delist Begley it’s exactly the same. Anyone else can still pick him ahead of us
I’d consider Murray with a rookie pick.
Perhaps
Maybe it’s not actually delisting then to do it rather than just list status change allowed only as he is contracted.
No, it’s a delisting. They’re off a list, until we draft them again. What would discourage other clubs picking them up is the contract we have with them, which would be something above the pie and a coke rookie deal.
I think Begs and Mutch are the two most obvious candidates, btw.
very clever indeed
gives “who’s on first” a run for its money!!

We have the 2 new Irish boys as Cat B rookies. I see people saying we can only take 2 National Draft selections unless we cut further players. But given we have added 2 (+ 2 Cat B rooks) and delisted 4 (+ 6 normal rookie listed players), we can choose to go with extra players on the senior list but have a smaller rookie list can’t we?
Only one Irish lad can be cat b
We added Snelling
Lav 2 & McNiece were cat b
So 2 main list & 2 rookie spots plus 2 cat b
Brown gone now. Means an extra national draft selection or we can pick another rookie or maybe there’s a Delisted free agent we have in mind?
