Yeah fair enough, I just think we get destroyed by the intercepter and Francis has genuine defensive capabilities. Its the position we should be training him in all preseason - doesn’t need to be a 30+ goal fwd.
How we set-up our forward structure is super up for debate though. Would be super impressive if Baldy forced his way in round 1 but for the sake of not getting too hyped I’m going to leave him out of calculations. I see this as the best combination of ‘talls’ - ‘smalls’
Tipungwuti - Wright - Francis
Snelling - Jones - Smith
If Langers plays most of next season he will get 30 goals next year too. Cox as well was close to good for a goal a game in the game he played the full match.
I would be aiming for Archie to try and get himself 20 goals next year also.
Like you say, that could be enough scoring power as it is
Not sure if I agree with that, he’s never kicked even a goal a game in his career for a season. But the point still stands - we can evaluate where the scoring is coming from in 12 months, and if it’s adequate then we don’t need to trade. Its context dependent.
He still only kicked goals in 8 games last year and his best ever year is 15. I would love it to happen but 20 might be a better aim for Langers. 30 goals as a fwd/mid is starting to get into the utter elite of the AFL and while its possible I don’t know if I would say it ‘will’ happen.
I just looked it up, and it’s funny because I’ve perceive has durable, but he’s never played more than 18 games in a year. Maybe it’s because he was constantly Worsfold’s scapegoat…
If he played a full season, he would have got to 20 likely in the past.
I think we’ve finally nailed his position as more of an outside midfielder who drifts forward, so I’m expecting that a goal a game will be standard output for Kyle now
Yeah I agree that its his best spot. I think 20 is absolutely in the ball park (13 from 17 this year so he would have been near that mark had he played 22 games). But 30 is a lot. Trac only kicked 29 including finals and Bont only 31 including finals. 30+ is a lot of goals for someone who plays anywhere but primary forward.
That’s true. I just went 1.2 x 22 and got 26.4 and rounded up to 30.
I do wonder if the coaches will be tempted to just run with Jones and 2MP as the pure talls at some point this year and play Langford and Cox more through the forwardline along with Stringer.
Would allow us to add another small/midfielder and would be similar to Richmond’s forward structure of 2 talls plus Dusty
Nah it’s fair enough. He could easily hit 20-22 goals and that’s basically at that level. I’m just glad he’s finally settled into a solid position and is fully established.
