Lunchtime Catch Up Podcast- RoCo joins us after a win!

Thanks, but funnily I wasn’t referring to you or your podcast in particular. I was thinking about this board in general.

I have thought the response to the Port game was over the top and I wasn’t looking forward to see dizzying optimism as a response. In general I thought your show and Blitz has responded with a measured enthusiasm.
I feel like a broken record saying this but I dont think most of this board, nor the press in general trust the club. Justifiably so.

The players actually had many of us believing that we could trust them around mid last year.

Then the back portion of the season happened.

What that means is it is going to take longer to get us back onboard this time around.

It was a discussion around being too tall when Peter comes back in for anzac day… saying it either had to be Harry or Goldy and she said it should be Harry because he is younger and has many more oportunities to play on anzac day.

Exactly. Everyone on here points the gun at all the wrong people.

Don’t go saying Dodoros the wrong person. Don’t go saying Scott’s the wrong appointment. Don’t go saying the corporates are the problem.

They might be, they might not be.

All it actually shows is there’s a person high up with the ability to remove and replace accordingly who is either not savvy, nor corageous, not litigious, nor over arching in their resolve to cut those people in those sorts of positions out for the good of this club.

As good as those sheedy years where all they do is mask a toxin that took root as far back as the late 60s that allowed todays fabric to be woven from poison thread. That’s the fabric we talk about now. When it’s torn, it’s not. It’s like cooch, it takes seed again and comes back worse.

I like Dodoro, but he’s never been properly deployed and it feels like he’s just interwoven himself so tightly with the right people this is the best the club can come up with. He’s kind of still there. He should be snaffling those late gems in Duz and Martin but be part of a team like the great recruiting teams we had in the 80s and 90s.

We’ve got Judkins back haven’t we? Use him for the early rounds.

It feels like a sham our recruiting department. They knew we’d bail if X stayed around so they swapped him out pronto. They knew that was it for the Left if the crazy Christian cult guy stayed on. But they have to be so careful with some things they play a game.

I’ve always said go and get Balmey but he’s crook. I’ve always said sheedy doesn’t need to be there. For god sakes there’s a yank Collingwood lady who sits on the board.

Optics.

If you’re on a coterie you’re part of the problem. Or some of the coteries. There’s to much comfort, too many people old and happy that can still operate a VHS so 84/85 makes for pleasant viewing.

So Davey Jnr reminds Grant of Cyril and Walla.

Sounds just like the club’s attitude towards its list and team selection over the last 10 years.

I will have to listen again but I though it was linked to pressure… not overall ability

Yeah, but his pressure is not Cyril or Walla like despite what the pressure rating says. Those players would chase and impose themselves physically, Davey chases a lot, but no real physical presence…

Fair but 22 pressure acts is a good first start also

Is that actually even that good?
Parish and some of our other mids get high 20’s to mid 30’s most weeks.

It 22 considered good because of his position?

yes you are around the ball a hell of a lot more when in midfield. i think 22 is good for where davey was playing.

Given how little Davey was around the ball 22 would be considered good.

Pressure ratings are rubbish.

Its the edge showing, more defensively minded players the better.

Mids are consistently around the play over the whole ground…small forwards are more locked into one half of the ground only so its limited. I think 22 was good.
