Get ■■■■■■, this sniping is bullshit.
They need to be left out of the side then. If they are struggling and depressed and just over it they need to be left out- send them on a holiday or something and just play all the youngsters for the rest of the season.
We are an average team, but our decision to destroy our back line by playing sub standard players is making us look 10x worse than we are.
The Hooker up forward move is a disaster. Idgaf if it’s an experiment. Or to provide a contest. He tries his guts because he is a warrior but he kicked 2.2 including an absolute HOWLER in the second term. We’ve taken a weapon and turned it into a weakness.
Steinberg (I wasn’t going to sink the boots in but since people keep bring it up I feel the need to comment). Not AFL level. I’m sure someone will go through the tape and try to explain how every goal kicked on him wasn’t actually his fault, but I’m going to side step his 1on1 defensive skills for the moment since enough has been said on the topic. He is terrible below his knees, slow to react and is barely a VFL level kick. He also offers zilch in terms of intercept marks. No it’s not his fault we lost. But between him, Pears, and few of our more chip kick happy mids. it all added up to there being absolutely NO counter attacking from our back line.
In the modern game you tend to score from either winning clearances and implementing an effective press, or from effective counter attacking after an opposition stuff up (ideally caused by good midfield pressure). Playing two absolute plodders in Pears and Steinberg today totally gutted both of these options. Our press has never looked worse and our back line is 3 stooges stuff.
Say it’s tanking all you like, but I don’t see how Hird can get an honest look out our youngsters whilst handicapping the team like this.
I know we don’t like loosing, but isn’t the club really doing what it should? I mean in terms of playing the kids and the players that have played reserves for so long. Players now cant complain of not being given an opportunity to show their wares. At least, this year, when assessing the list, the club will have a pretty good idea of which player is capable of filling the roles they need. While its been painful , its a) been forced upon us by injuries and the bite of draft sanctions b) its more and more obvious to me that the players have been devastated by the WADA appeal.
Stants our best
Hird will get a severe blowtorch this week . .Will he survive?
Not sure how we turn this around
Campo > hird as coach who would have thought?
Stanton had no real influence on the game when 24 of his 30 touches were uncontested in a loss over 100 points.
Spot on!!!
Wow, imagine an outside midfield player who runs all over the ground getting uncontested ball! Shocking thing to happen in a game of footy. Heaven forbid that an inside midfielder might win it for him and feed it out to the outside midfielder.
I say we look at Stanton and blame him for the loss. Spot on indeed!
Stanton carpools to work with brady’s wife and on the way she blows him.
It’s the only explanation I can think for the constant hatred towards him.
If you’re waiting for my come back, scrap it from the back of your mums throat.

First time i have smiled since the 1st qtr. cheers
Remember we beat the Hawks and nearly Sydney first two rounds this year. Then WADA appealed and we fell to pieces. Clearly there are extenuating circumstances and until they are resolved, unfortunately I can’t see anything changeing, regardless whether Hird or someone else is coach.
IMO it’s got to be about quite a bit more than just Hird staying or going.
And rightly or wrongly, Hirdy may not be solely judged on his coaching right now but that is exactly the same as the players not being solely judged on their talent.
Thats just the reality of where we are at.
The only decision I am really invested in right now is whether we try to compete next year or commit to a comprehensive list regeneration process and do it properly (which will take a couple of years).
Everything else seems pretty irrelevant right now.
Wada needs to be dealt with of course, but I think even if we get a good result there, some players are probably just never going to come back from all this which is the sad reality, but reality nonetheless.
At our best (which admittedly we haven’t seen for a while) we are a good team - but as always the worry is that our full list will make us competitive and will continue to see us mid-table for years to come.
Club has a couple of big decisions to make, and not just about the coach.
I agree and I think a lot is to do with the direction the board has taken. We have just laid down all over the place and haven’t fought for anything over the past three years. That sort of attitude rubs off.
If your bosses, for want of a better word, aren’t fighting for anything, it’s hard to motivate yourself to give a ■■■■. And I believe that is what is starting to manifest itself now.
There needs to be a huge cultural shift.
I am not saying t he board needs to go or anything like that, I think we need to change our strategic direction, otherwise we will be stuck in this rut for years to come.
That of course involves a rebuild etc but it needs to include the entire club. There needs to be a complete rethink on strategy.
I do think it’s time for Little to go and hand over to someone like Lindsay Tanner who is a little more politically and media astute.
We need to get our fight back. We have none from the top down.
Hird is a complete outlier in that respect. He would be a very lonely man right now.
I think that is pretty spot on actually. 2013 was awesome before the club negotiated and lay down. The problem is that we cant make time go quicker to get the wada hearing over with.
The question is how can the club as a whole unite again.

I agree some of it has been over the top.
But surely we are still allowed to express opinions on players? I think the bagging of Stein has been unwarranted BUT I also, personally, don’t think he is good enough at this level.
The players need our support, the club needs our ongoing support… but we also need to be honest about players. This is a cut throat business and we can’t carry blokes because of what has happened. We need, sadly, to be ruthless about deciding who can take this club forward and who can’t.
We either get ruthless or we will be stuck int his rut for another 10 years.
Opinions are fine when they are constructive and take all things into account. Sal's responding to the type on here who live just to hang ■■■■ on players, Hird, and the club, under the defence of "hey, I'm a paid-up supporter, I don't deserve this, I'm gonna use my anonymity to pay out on these guys".
The club will make the calls that need to be made.

Emotionally exhausted. Hit by injuries to key players. Continually whacked by media scum. Suffering from lack of draft picks. Need WADA to be over & a chance for clear air. We just have to stick together and get through this.
