Match review vs Fark Carlton - same old crap

Bizarre by Hooker.

Just watched it over.

Having spent some time meditating on it, I reckon he thought the exact same thing as me, and that it was gonna go the distance and clear the pack.

Carlton fan claiming that Pittonet got a fist which then landed on Jones’s bonce.

What makes me laugh is you got a bunch of players all flying for the ball with not one getting a hand or fist in but some how landed on his head.

All you need to insert is the Benny Hill music

I worry about you sometimes especially when you conduct such a detailed analysis on a post.

Yeah I think so too

But in saying that not good enough as he never engaged at all it seems to prevent Jones getting a run and jump at it.

Yep. Needed Hooker to engage to try and clear the line. Ffs.

Yep. He dropped it before OOB was called.

hurley to be dropped for his consistent effort over the duration of the game.

hooker to be dropped for tha teffort on townsends kick.

I had a look at the footage frame by frame and it looks pretty conclusive to me that it only touched Jones.

We were outnumbered in the square though which is disappointing and the only person that had a free run and jump at it was Hooker but he just watched it through. As said above though, he probably thought it would get through.

I think he was trying to block and Jones got past him.

Played safe footy

Boundary line footy

No corridor looking or switching

No run n carry

No forward pressure

I don’t know where some of the players heads are at but if they aren’t right don’t play them

Oh, don’t do that to me.

Hard to argue against any of this.

It was obviously a poor performance by our guys, but I maintain that this loss is on the coaches. Last night’s issues have been stated in this thread numerous times, but I want to add two other points.

  1. For those who think Rutten and Caracella are our saviours, they are part of a coaching group who still think Tom Bellchambers should be playing AFL. I cannot state enough how much this concerns me.
  2. Early in the 2017 season, I sat through an Essendon-Carlton match at the MCG; it rained all day and we got done by a very weak opponent in an appalling game of football. That day, Carlton used a spare player in defence and gained field position very effectively by honouring lead-up forwards with a series of 20-30 metre passes. Sound familiar? That was more than three years ago. Three ■■■■■■■ years. It beggars belief.

Move Hooker forward. He will contest, will clunk a few and we have two solid replacements (Ambrose and BZT) ready to go. Bring in a forward who will actually lead at the ball-carrier (Laverde). Never, ever, ever select Bellchambers again. Consider a mid who will bring strength and a point of difference (Clarke). Move good pressure players (Smith and Tippa) further up the field (our defence between the arcs is absolutely horrendous). Consider moving Redman to a wing (he will add a bit of height, aggression and good field kicking). Get McKenna back in as soon as he is available.

Do one of Stringer held on the Townsend kick on the goal line by the newly voted AA defender for the blues

I know they happen a lot and aren’t called but I thought he impacted Stringers leap

Ah lol beat me too it
