Had Setterfield in guts in that game & Shiel.
Caldwell played but minimal if at all any mid time. And no Hobbs. Those two in particular should revel in wet weather footy sticking their heads over it.

Darcy Parish’s mother was a mudder
I watch the footy at Brunswick St most weeks and it’s the best local footy ground imo
So crazy that it was once a proper VFL venue though! The ground feels tiny and the goals are like 5 meters from St Georges road
It will be the best win of the season (so far, in my opinion) if we can get something out of this game…
Not because Fremantle are that great but the circumstances (fired up opponent, coming off the BYE, interstate game, probable rain etc) …
The tram track is closer than the grand stand.
Yep, it it is tiny, it was probably the smallest of the VFL grounds, although Glenferrie Oval would have given it some competition with the train line just over the outer wing. The Junction Lakeside Ovals were surrounded by a green zone. I guess Arden St, was similar, but l can’t recall ever going there. The Western Oval was the absolute pits, as bad as having a round in Ballarat, open to the elements, and subject to flooding a bit.
Well obviously, but compared to how we have played in the wet for the past decade or so it showed positive signs that we actually took a game plan into a wet weather game for once.
It’s awesome you got see footy played at these suburban grounds!
Must have been a pretty different vibe to these days
It sure was. You could smell the linament!
My weather map - 2pm - sunny/cloudy 15.3 - no rain.
3pm - sunny/cloudy - 15.3 - no rain
4pm - sunny/cloudy - 14.7 - no rain
5pm - sunny/cloudy - 14.0 - no rain
6pm - cloudy/moon - 13.4 - no rain
7pm - cloudy with brief shower - 12.9 - 0.1mm rain
8pm - cloudy with brief shower - 12.4 - 0.1mm rain
9pm - cloudy with brief shower - 11.7 - 0.1mm rain
We’ll find out soon how wet it really is on the ground but at least it’s not going to be a mud heap. At best -reasonable to normal conditions. At worst - a bit greasy and may not suit talls high marking.
I prefer conditions to allow for our speed rather than suit their talls.
How are you feeling about this game?

Well it’s raining here at the Belmont races.
Just walked past Hayden Ballantyne. I have my Essendon shirt on and he gave me the nod.
Half true.
Rain started at half time when we were 19 points up.
Won by 30
No rain ATM

Seriously, the weather / conditions are secondary.
The opponent, Essendon’s preparedness for “battle” and their ability to play the 4 quarters will determine the outcome.
The way players are talking, they’re aware of results after the bye so “should” be switched on.
Am comfortable in the thought that Scott has the players ready to carry the momentum gained from the previous 4 wins. He’d be highlighting the opportunity to strengthen their standing in the comp with a competitive and hopefully winning game.
Guelfi talking about how he wants Essendon to be able to travel to WA and beat both sides was pretty telling about their mindset. And how monumental it would be for them to achieve it.
They want the win.
Ballantynes nag just got up . Old Geelong captain mark bairstow trains a horse in the next
What comes across is their belief in the system, a system that should stand up to all scenarios.
Another game.
Another test.
whens the last time we had a 5 game win streak? im guessing quite a while, would be huge if we win tonight.
