Memberships

Got my membership pack this week.
Almost didn’t renew.
32 years now. Card and stickers.
Kept Card, turfed the little remaining.
It is a little sad this length of time as a member with reserved seats and that’s it.
We don’t even get a finals win.
Not sure this is value for money anymore.

Well …after 52 years as a member with reserved seats for the last 30, I have cancelled my membership.
Also ended the kid’s (23 years and 20 years) memberships.
I thought it would be somewhat traumatic but was fairly painless (might feel different come Round 1 and will hate myself if and when we finally reach a GF).
But for now I no longer saw the benefit.
Money better spent on Kayo and a new sofa to watch the games from.
Go Dons!

I wouldn’t worry too much.
You’re welcome back whenever you wish. There’s still plenty of reserved seat opportunities whenever you’re ready.
I think memberships and reserved seating needs a bit of a revamp.
Did you think about pausing your membership for one season?

This is interesting. Can you do that? Would you lose your seats?

Wonder how far into next years dumpster fire season until they give us free membership renewals

You lose your seats, but there’s no demand for your seat anyway. Certainly no waiting list.
You can pause it for one season and you don’t lose your benefits (years served, etc).
You also need to check whether your reserved seats changed classification. As long as you don’t move, you don’t pay extra for a re-classification. But once you request to move, or you pause then come back in, you may find your seats are now High Mark (or silver instead of bronze).
For memory, you can only pause for one year only. You can’t do it back to back years.
It’s rarely advertised, but if you ring the club and let them know your reasons they’ll help you out or get you onto a membership better suited for your circumstances.

As long as you’re not abusive, they are fine to deal with. Albeit, sometimes tough to get through to or get the right information from.

Well ide like to say thanks for your service sir! Reading this makes me sad re feel club losing its heart and soul when good folks want out, and your kids too. (I get it, i still bankroll my 24 year olds membership) Why dont they get pro active, pick up the phone, “sorry you feel not up to continuing, we can see yiuve been loyal, so how about we offer you a 50% discount this year, keep you engaged and hopefully the boys can turn things around and you can consider options at seasons end”. We a multi million entity, people get paid big bucks to keep the show on the road and rinse repeat should be flushed and some real, personable effort made to turn the club back into what it was. Do those running membership, PR etc feel sad too? If not, shouldnt be at the club. Anyhoo, morning coffee rant doneski, that is all.

Mine arrived too………shows me as a 57 year member (though I’ve been a member for 65 years, but who’s counting!). Anyway, in all that time have received zero acknowledgment of anything……just as well my passion for the red ‘n black is not dependent on any form of recognition!

The annual “trying to renew” saga begins. It starts with a message from the club that my payment failed - fair enough, probably an old credit card. They send me a link to a Ticketmaster site. My Ticketmaster login doesn’t work there - even though the same credentials get me into TM in a separate browser tab. I go to the “forgot password” link but there’s no reset email, instead they tell me to call (03) 8340-2000. I call the number several times but it’s not a real number - “unable to connect”. I figure that the Ticketmaster site needs my EFC login rather than my TM login so I go to the essendonfc site to discover my login. I don’t know my password on that site so again I click “forgot my password”. Again, there’s no reset email, this time it redirects me to that same ticketmaster site, but that site fails to load correctly.

Where do you start with this membership department. There is possibly no more hopeless organisation in the free world. It was only a few years ago that they signed me, my wife and my mate three seats in a row … as in, E14, D14 and C14. Yes that’s right, in a vertical row rather than a horizontal row.

Why can’t they just use good 'ol best practice when it comes to account management and resets? I run my wife’s hair salon website and payments system in my spare time and nobody ever has a problem with payments or passwords. It’s just infuriating how absolutely useless they are.

So now I’m stuck. Back to the website, looking for contact phone numbers. That (03) 8340-2000 number is plastered everywhere, but it doesn’t work. IT DOESN’T WORK YOU ■■■■■■■ MORONS! How can you be so ■■■■■■■ useless?

Have you called membership dep. at club? Always been good to me when issues, sorted stuff on the spot etc.

I note site says that number blocks private numbers so maybe need to check setting on your phone

Yep, I have been unable to get through via my landline, which is set to private, but can using my mobile.

Got mine the other day. After the hoopla for 30 years, the card and sticker (plus Zac’s message) was underwhelming!
