Mid Season Draft 2025

From an intercepting, third up perspective… I have some questions over his kicking though. Mind you I’ve only seen this one game so I’m no expert on his game.

On a day when the Geelong defence was under siege for much of the game and many of the Hawks forwards were running rampant, MSD prospect Charlie McCartin was one of few Cats players to leave with his reputation not just intact but enhanced. Looking like a copy of his brother Tom, he rarely gave his direct matchup anything and regularly came off his man to try and help out third up. His intercept marking was a feature and his disposal coming out of defence was tidy and constructive.

Interesting, nice and neat left foot with a bit of dare and genuine courage in the air. Sold cover in light of the rids and Hayes situations.

How tall is he? Could be be a prior replacement?

194cm - I’m not sure he’s quick enough to cover the mid sized players but I’m not an expert on his game.

I imagine that if we took 2 Tigers in the MSD, there will be much gnashing of fangs and even a healthy smattering of public seething.

Prior isn’t quick enough for them either though so…

Based on a single video … but want. Looks like a perfect Laverde replacement/upgrade.

Let’s do it… will give The Haggard Opinion Writer just another axe to grind…

McCartin looks good and makes some sense given Rids and Hayes are injured, Lav is Lav and Prior sucks.

Martin looks a bit slow

El Nour is another who’s been discussed in draft circles for a number of years, is back on the MSD radar this year and seems destined to get a crack at AFL footy eventually. After a shaky start to this game Mutaz showed his fine attributes for a versatile medium defender. He brings athleticism and intensity in his defensive actions and rebounding dash to break lines with the ball.

I love how every player profiled is followed by a chorus of ‘could he replace Prior’ -thoroughly endorse!

No but seriously, plz replace Prior with one of these fine young men.

If we Get Smartt, will her wear 86?

He will but we can’t draft him as it would confirm we will never play a kaos style of game

But we will play a control style of game.

I think he’d be keen on 99

All jokes aside is Smartt actually any good?
The times I’ve seen him he has looked very vanilla and pretty bang average. Has he improved his game?
