Definitely agree with your premise of tempering expectations with the MSD and it’s best to expect little and hope to be surprised but either your grading systems are fkg insane or you are severely underrating a few guys. Newcombe, Hall, Durham and a few others are at least B graders. Newcombe at times has appeared an A grader.

We never even contemplated that we could lose to Richmond. Never even slightly conceived it was possible. Then we did and it’s all “oh sht, better have a look at that Artemis guy, the internet reckons he’s going #1”

The Jack Sinclair comparisons seem a touch more fitting. Both he and Artemis aren’t very contested players and suit more uncontested footy. Both similar height and speedy, and not too dissimilar in their disposal efficiency either.

Serious question, why not Ferronato from the VFL squad. Seems to be a ball magnet, likes to tackle. What are the knocks on him?
I don’t mind him but he doesn’t have the best athletic profile

Speed is a very valid reason to go with 19 year old Artemis. We terribly slow defending the rebound and closing space on the opposition, so if he can help that then I am on board with selecting him

“consensus” is probably a much less defined term in the msd ( and rookie draft fwiw) so yeah, who knows. But either way we now have a new guy making the final calls so history may not be a guide.
I think Artemis is very very much consensus, at this draft.
From my limited knowledge Artemis brings some much needed pace to the team. Happy with that
