If it does become a true AFL reserves comp, does that open the door for an expansion of list sizes?

Would have to unless they plan on filtering in more top ups or underage players. I’d very much doubt the AFL wants to increase the main list size substantially and the state leagues will push back against major list increases
And bring back the reserves playing before the main game. Please.

There is not enough money in the comp.
It’ll be played in front of crowds somewhere between VFLW and AFLW games. Attendance will most likely be free apart from finals.
There are a lot of areas that also need more money. Coaching / football departments, etc through all codes. AFLW list sizes also need increasing.
List sizes and players for AFL teams will happen slowly and eventually.
If the comp goes ahead, it’ll be a ■■■■ show to begin with. There’ll be so many fill ins from EDFL comps weekly. And it’ll be a mess because that player has barely had any kind of training or understanding of game plan that the result will be worse than what we currently see now at VFL level.
There is also the issue of travel for non-AFL listed WA players. That’s a lot of travel during the season if you still need to hold down another job.

Everyone would be happy if they farked off.
The genuine clubs and their fans hate the leeches in our comp and Port and the Crows are constantly sooking about being in our comp whilst their fans make a bit of noise but don’t turn up anyway. Quite a bit of hostility between the genuine clubs and the AFL reserves and that also is shown in the crowd at times

Port Melbourne and Footscray are stealing all of our VFL(W) players. We’ve now reached (at least) seven for next year.

Everyone is so much better at player development, a few sessions of training at Freo and Voss is a true Key Fwd size now
