He didn’t last long at Freo!
It’s hard to see Voss being any more than a very good VFL player and most unlikely to be picked up for the AFL. His pace is not quite there. His accuracy in front of goals was frustrating and his marking too inconsistent etc. However, if he was to develop and improve these areas it is not impossible that in another 2-3 years he could actually make it. I wish him all the best.
He’s still training with Freo.
He’s hedging his bets which is a good thing to do.
I would have thought that given no other Victorian team gave him a chance at that Freo gave him an opportunity, that he may play WAFL and try and get into the AFL through there.
Port Melbourne is a good move if you want to get back into AFL though. It’s not aligned so he should have some team stability and be able to get used to the midfield and forward group. It’ll work both ways for him by giving him an opportunity back on an AFL list and also give him enough of a profile to stay in VFL for his football career.
Good luck to Rhett at the Bulldogs. I think that’s a good spot for him. They are always on the lookout for medium sized backmen and if he does well, the Bulldogs have shown in the past they have no problems taking players from their own VFL team.
Jorgensen has gone to the Bullants.
Will the last Essendon VFL player please turn off the lights
They have pretty much offered him a spot on their list, that was the main attraction for him to sign
A few clubs have announced their practice match schedule (3-4 games, and starting in two weeks time). Haven’t seen any involving us.
Full fixture is out
27th v the Pies at Vic Park looks like a good matchup
That ANZAC round game is a double-header with the VFLW.
As are 23/3, 20/4, and 9/6 (2 x Hangar and 1 x Windy Hill).
But you still have to guess the date and time for 8 rounds, including one in round 3 (which may or may not be scheduled between round 2 and round 4).
VFLW is fully announced.
“Another tough fixture for the Bombers … in fact this one is nominally the equal second hardest.”
Last Season: 17th (5-13)
Coach: Blake Caracella (1st season, replacing Leigh Tudor)
Fixture: BL (H), San (A), Foo (TBC), Sou (H), Col (A), bye, Wil (A), NM (H), Ric (N), Box (H), Car (H), bye, GC (A), Col (H), PM (A), Cas (A), bye, San (H), NB (A), GC (H), Cob (A)
Plays Twice: Collingwood, Gold Coast, Sandringham
Doesn’t Play: Frankston, Geelong, GWS, Sydney, Werribee
Interstate Trips: Queensland 1
VFLW Double Headers: 6 ← I counted 4
AFL curtain raisers/closers: 1 (R9 v Ric)
Summary:
Only one interstate trip –to reigning premier Gold Coast which will see the Suns wary after losing to the Bombers last year (and they play them twice). They don’t go to Southport, where they have played some great footy, and they don’t play Frankston for the second year in a row, while also not meeting either Sydney team. However, they also avoid Grand Finalist Werribee. So what makes it so difficult on paper? Nine games rated under 20 points, with the Suns trip joined by visits to every team from fifth to ninth on the ladder, with home games against first, third and fourth also looming as challenges.
Difficulty Score: 435 (ranked equal 2nd)
Two of them are double-headers with AFL practice games.

Having the VFL start at 5 instead of the senior side is one of the more perplexing decisions I’ve seen. Would have thought they would get more people at the game and viewing online if the senior side started at 5 on a Friday and not 2pm.
The fact we won’t have played a team in two years, tells you everything you need to know about the scheduling and the league as a whole.
It’s just a mess and you can understand how fans struggle to keep interested.
Less disruptive for the VFL blokes who have real jobs?
VFL(W) app has been updated with 2024 fixture. It also has Lance Franklin leading every stat ladder for the VFL.
