Legitimate question, what does this mean. I mean political parties talk about it all the time, but was is “a talent” in this context?
Tall
Athletic
Can kick on both feet
This is very very true. Problem is that they mostly surround themselves with young people without the experience , and with ambitions in politics above anything else
The staffers in some Ministers Office were something to behold.
Actually a good question.
Some Politicians are very average, both in intelligence and character. Cathy King has a high intellect, well educated and cares about what she does. She doesn’t play the factional politics that well, and within Labor, the blokes still dominate, in spite of numbers.
A Political talent is someone who has both the intelligence and the character to get the job done. It is a very tough ask, as you have to exist in a system that does not reward initiative, unless it is what the Leadership needs and the Media understand.
The sad truth about politics in our Nation is that generally our MPs are very much reflective of our society, which generally means that they are mostly average. That is what democracy gives us, and in part this is a good thing, but underlying it means that the best and brightest are not running the place.
Anyone able to post the full article?
Thank you!
Story today about a Qantas jet taking off at Perth airport and ripping up all the bitumen off the runway. Headline makes it all about Qantas and not the dodgy bit of tarmaccing. Probably done by some Irish travellers who had a bit left over.
Tassie premier fixing potholes but maybe upgrading to airport runways. Probably do a better job by the looks of things

I saw something that on a much smaller scale the Western Highway near Stawell. Truck zoomed through after a lot of rain and big parts of asphalt just blew away. Engineers said the water had gone under surface due to a poor asphalt sealing job.
That seems a pretty reasonable approach by defence. Replacing the blades doesn’t mean the flight rotors, it means pulling apart the engine and replacing every single blade in the turbine. That’s a major job and generally done when the turbines are pulled out for major maintenance.
Don’t have the engineering information that led to this decision, but it seems very media cherry picking. Also, without full knowledge here, I’d expect a twin engined helicopter to be able to fly back to base perfectly fine on one engine. It seems the pilot shut down the good engine and that’s why they had to ditch.
They can drop into Victoria’s south-west on the way there. Horrible potholes, mainly caused by logging trucks I suspect.
I’ve known Woody for some time and what he doesn’t know about flying isn’t worth knowing. I’d take what he says as gospel and he is pretty forthright in his assessment of the SQ crew for that flight
Understood.
Terrible outcomes for a few onboard … would’ve been horrendous for all though. It’s in fact a flight I’ve taken more than once when heading back home for a visit i.e. More recently I use Qatar via Doha.
Old but WTF news.
