Missing/crashed planes, and other aviation mis/adventures

Costly stuff up from Virgin. Delayed flight Melbourne to Hobart left at 9.00 last night and turned back halfway across Bass Straight because they realised they wouldn’t make Hobart before a 10.00 runway shut down due to construction work. Passengers trying to find accommodation at midnight back in Melbourne. I’m sure the tradies wouldn’t have minded sitting in the smoko shed for another hour, probably on double time.

The US Navy just shot down one of their own F/A-18 Hornets during combat operations in the Red Sea.

Both pilots ejected ok, one with minor injuries.

Claims that Ukrainian drones were in the same airspace as the plane. Plane was there due to fog elsewhere.
