MLB 2024

Just finished watching the game after a self-imposed media blackout for the past 10 hours. Way to ■■■■ the bed, Yankees.

Boone has a lot to learn and thought he managed poorly and got a lot wrong when things were tight. He really needs to be stronger and nip some of these bad defensive tendencies in the bud too.

Always happy to share my love of the game. I’ve been playing since I was 6 and have played with and against major leaguers, Olympians and have loved every minute of it.

But seriously, listen to the Rube Waddell episode of The Dollop (on Spotify), you will wet yourself laughing. The guy should be a hero to every sports fan.

Just had an argument with a mate.

I said that play at first was Cole’s fault for not covering the bag. He was adamant it was Rizzo’s.

Wondering what we thought here?

I don’t blame Volpe for going for the force out at 3rd, you always try to get the lead runner and the play naturally took him in that direction. He just didn’t execute.

Judge spent it before he had it, and Cole should absolutely have covered 1st on that play to Rizzo. Anything hit to that side of the diamond you are hustling to 1st. They blew it, but I suspect their pitching was gassed for any further games in the series. It would have been a tough ask to go to LA and win 2 more.

Yeah, no way were we winning 2 in LA but always nice to not lose the series on your home turf.
I still think there are too many holes in the squad and don’t rate Cashman or his recruiting but at the end of the day they made it to a WS although I’m not sure if that’s just a reflection of how weak the AL is

Rizzo was playing deep and probably wouldn’t have beaten Betts even if he’d run straight for the bag. Cole had no excuse not to be there.

This is a pretty awesome breakdown of that 5th innings, including that play.

Having a little snooze waiting for next flight and wake up to the news that Soto has signed at the Mets. 15 year deal worth US$765m apparently

It is true.

At least it’s not the Dodgers.

They took Conforto

It works out to be approx. $1.2B AUD. :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

That money and contract length is so ■■■■■■■ crazy.

I literally can’t even believe that is real. America is wild.

Baseball is out of control. Teams have always tried to buy championships, but lately it seems more attainable than it ever was.

Between this and all the stupid new rules, I find myself losing interest in it each passing year.

Take it to the “Getting Old” thread

Corbin Burnes has just signed with the DBacks :astonished:

The (formerly Oakland) Athletics playing their first “home” game at the Triple-A Baseball Field in West Sacramento.

Opposition clubhouse is behind the centre field wall, so when players need something, they have to wait to the end of the innings then run across.

*Have to post here because I can’t post three times in a row in the 2025 thread!

Braves have lost their first 5, easy start to the season though - 4 games in San Diego, then a series against the Dodgers.

Giving you some room now, @PH_WARFRadio
