Hard to imagine Devers as anything but a Red Sox. The Giants have been desperate for a power hitter for ages.
In other news, Ohtani making his first pitching start in two years.
Hard to imagine Devers as anything but a Red Sox. The Giants have been desperate for a power hitter for ages.

In further news, Atlanta needs to sack its entire bullpen.
Couple of weeks back, up 10-4 with one out in the 9th, give up 7 runs
Today, Grant Holmes 15 K in 6.1, leaves trailing 2-1, lose 10-1
The Giants haven’t had a 30 home run season player since Barry Bonds in 2004.
They really need this to happen.
^Should be since Barry Bonds*
It’s nice work if you can get it.
Astros 18 dodgers 1
Uncomfortable they let George from Seinfeld pitch the last 3 innings lol
Then beat them again today
Astros just keep finding players
Braves season following Essendon.
Every pitcher from their Opening Day rotation is long-term injured.
Spencer Strider, one of their best 2, has returned from Tommy John, but been pretty ordinary.
The only bright spot has been rookie catcher, Drake Baldwin, who was expected just to relieve Sean Murphy, but has ended up with both playing while Marcel Ozuna has been benched.
And the bullpen…the stench from that is strong enough to reach Melbourne. The closer, Raisel Iglesias is not even close to a sure thing. Even today, enters bottom 9 with a 10-4 lead, gave up 2 runs plus a sac fly with no outs, now 10-7 with one out.
Well out of playoff contention.
Ryne Sandberg passed away.
I’m as parochial a Cub-hater as anyone can be, but he was a hell of a player and one I saw a lot of growing up as the fan of a hated rival.
Classic summary of Atlanta’s season today…trail 3-0 early, get back to 3-3 then blow up for 8 runs in the top of the 8th to take 11-3 lad. End of 8, it’s 11-11 with 2 3-run homers in there. Go to extras and get a sac fly, and hold on to win 12-11
The only surprising thing is that they held on. There’s a new pitcher 3 times a week as the other clubs take out the trash.
Did I see that they are doing a game in the middle of Bristol speedway?
No idea. I’ve lost interest.
I saw that but I don’t remember when it was or who was playing. I’ve pretty much checked out on baseball this year especially since the Cardinals decided to be sellers.
This speedway schtick seems like a dry run for expansion in the sun belt.
Not a lot of activity on here but final day of the regular season today and after 161 games we still had several playoff spots to sort out.
In the AL East the Yankees had clawed their way back over the last fortnight to tie up the lead with Toronto but both sides went didn’t drop a game in the final few days and ended up being all square with Toronto owning the tie break.
In the AL Central, Cleveland come from the clouds and were 11 games out of playoffs a month or so back but then won 18 out of 20 and headed to the final day tied with Detroit but owning the tie break. With Detroit losing on the final day, the Guardians win it.
And to top off a bad day in NY the Mets and Reds were tied up for a WC spot and the Reds lost but the Mets couldn’t capitalise and lost to the Marlins to be eliminated.
So in the end it finished

Toronto 94-68
AL WEST
Seattle 90-72
AL CENTRAL
Cleveland 87-75
AL WILD CARD
Yankees 94-68
Boston 89-73

NL CENTRAL

NL EAST
Philadelphia 96-66
NL WEST

NL WILD CARD
Chicago Cubs 92-70
San Diego 90-72
Cincinnati 83-79
WILD CARD ROUND
Detroit v Cleveland
Boston v Yankees
Cincinnati v LA Dodgers
San Diego v Chicago Cubs
Gotta love Yankees vs Red Sox for a Wild Card round.
I’m all for Houston missing out. ■■■■ the ‘stros.
Ditto the Mets
Charlie Morton got traded back to Atlanta for the last week of the season and started the last game. He’s done now.
Pulling for the Mariners, since I now have in-laws who support them, but also because they came from nowhere. Cal Raleigh became the breakout player of 2025.
There’s pretty much nobody in the NL left that I can stand.
Red Sox up 3-1 in the 9th.
Chapman loads the bases with nobody out then strike out, fly out and strike out to finish it off
Love me some playoff baseball
Yankees were horrible today. 2 more home games to save the season
