MotoGp. 2025 . Marquez Mafioso

Apart from my daughter (who was off work after having her appendix out), most of the riders and onlookers did not appear to be currently employed.

Would be fair to say that the old bikes were predominately ridden by old codgers.

That’s because they’re no longer working on Thursday mornings ….you’ll generally find that when helmets are removed on weekday rides that grey hair prevails.
(Good on them- still out there and loving it).

As I said L&P, that’s why I was able to be there, my daughter could go as she had a legit sickie and the reason that the whole shebang was set up was to give all these old codgers a good reason to get out and about and catch up with some old mates.

Sounds like a good catch up - really lovely to share it with your daughter.
Enjoy it whenever you can- bikers generally are a great group.
(Seriously did not mean to be offensive in any way if it sounded like that).

Mt Glorious on any dry random weekday morning will have a dozen or more riders hanging around the cafe. This Tuesday last month the cafe was unexpectedly closed, but it was like a mini vintage bike (and rider) meet nonetheless (at least 50% old bikes).

Lovely part of the world. We used to ride up there regularly when we were staying with a friend in Auchenflower. (& still occasionally drop in if we’re heading south)

Well the sprint race was fun…first few laps especially. Jack said he spun all the way to turn one and got caught up in the mess there. Brilliant job by Quatararo, both on the save and the battle with the VR46 boys.
Should be a good race tomorrow morning.

It’ll be interesting - really interesting - to see if Jack can a) remain the quickest of the Yamaha boys and b) if he can be competitively fast on other tracks. He’s always good in the wet but this was a largely drying track ( except for the curbing that Marc hit :grimacing: ) . But right now , he’d be the first in line for Yamaha to re-sign for 2025.

Wow. Firstly my heart goes out to Martin. Seems that Digi’s bike clipped him unfortunately. 6 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Devastating.
Alex won no fans causing damage to both Mark and Digi- effectively finishing the race for him. As they say, it’s MotoGP and he’s not the first nor will he be the last to make unnecessary mistakes.
Marc Marquez rode a brilliant race even with a damaged winglet.
Bagnaia was super impressive and looking like he may finally be turning things around.
Star of the weekend was Vinales on the KTM- unfortunately having his podium place stripped due to tyre pressure rules (ridiculous punishment in my opinion).
Motogp is certainly never dull.

Edit: An update regarding the rib fractures: eight fractures affect the posterior costal arches from the first to the eighth and there are three fractures observed in the lateral arches from the seventh to the ninth.

“Minimal pleural swelling is also noted in the context of the known pneumothorax.

Some more classics from Mt Glorious today. Tuesdays must be the day for the vintage ride.
Mid-70s MV, supposedly a replica of Ago’s race bike of that time.
