MRO - 2019 Same-same, but different

WTF is deemed to have missed?

Either he missed or he didn’t?

You only deem something where it’s not otherwise the case.

I’m pretty disappointed the attempted trip on Walla hasn’t got a mention.

Saad had his boot torn off last week by a two handed tackle and it went un-noticed during and after.

True, but I felt this one was potentially dangerous, where the other was just against the rules… in theory.

yep, if he had made contact with that trip he would of broken tippa’s leg

Was the player in question Fletcher?

No, then rule doesn’t apply.

MRO Logic.

Some hawks player clearly gives hodge a squeeze on the ■■■■■. Both players have a laugh.

Awkward laughter ensues

SEVEN players will have to fork out $13,500 worth of fines from the weekend’s action, with no suspensions handed down by the Match Review following round 20.

Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray and Geelong’s Jordan Clark were among those sweating on the findings of Michael Christian, with both sanctioned after their weekend misdemeanours.

Gray was fined $2000 after he bumped Orazio Fantasia to the ground in an off-the-ball incident on Saturday, just as the lively Essendon forward was rising to his feet.

Meanwhile, Clark was also fined $2000 after his strike to the body of Fremantle forward Sam Switkowski was deemed to be intentional conduct with low impact to the body.

However, Adelaide star Rory Sloane and Brisbane tough nut Mitch Robinson both walked away unscathed following a pair of noteworthy incidents over the weekend.

Sloane wasn’t punished for his bump that caught Jade Gresham high, while Robinson’s hard hit on Josh Dunkley was also seen as acceptable by the Match Review Officer.

Seven players were fined over the weekend:

  • Hawthorn’s James Sicily fined $3000 for striking Mason Wood.
  • Port Adelaide’s Connor Rozee fined $2000 for a dangerous tackle on Aaron Francis.
  • Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray fined $2000 for rough conduct on Orazio Fantasia.
  • Geelong’s Jordan Clark fined $2000 for striking Sam Switkowski.
  • Richmond’s David Astbury fined $2000 for striking Harrison Petty.
  • Collingwood’s Taylor Adams fined $1500 for careless umpire contact.
  • Carlton’s Ed Curnow fined $1000 for careless umpire contact.

That tackle is a terrible look. Francis was lucky not to have broken his neck.

Joke that Francis didn’t receive a free.

If we did that punishment would be the electric chair

It really feels like there are two sets of rules - EFC and everyone else.

Obviously we need to do a review of the quality of reports provided by our medical department to the mrp

Agree. Similar to the Naitanui v Amon tackle last year; tackled and head driven into the ground. NicNat got a week off for that.

Edit: And Re Gray vs Fantasia, MRO said it was intentional, body contact, and low impact, thus the fine. If it were high contact, the MRO table dictates a week off. However Fox captions their photo as “high” and shows Gray’s shoulder making contact with the back of Fanta’s head.

How many times have players been sanctioned by MRO for things that we haven’t been paid frees for?

There’s Rozee and Gray from this week, Howe for his tackle on Anzac Day (which that umpire who went on the radio conventionally ommitted from his explanations of why nothing is a free) and I think another one or two.
