Anything for Parker for the late high hit to Saad? I know it wasn’t even paid down field but look very agricultural to me live. And they didn’t show the replay of the incident on the broadcast. Commentators were having a laugh about how Saad crashed his head into Parker’s shoulder. ■■■■■■.
I noticed a remarkable contrast to a slightly late hit (Francis?) in a marking contest: Roos “lucky not to be 50, actually borderline reportable” (or similar). Later a comment was made in the call about Saad “running into Parker’s shoulder… well that’s one way to put it” (chuckle). No replay shown. Roos: " ".
McKernan, not Francis. Should have been 50. Copped $2k
Ta for correction. Was doing other things and on/off watching on the phone. You wonder who decides what is replayed and dissected.
North would have to have folded if the fine was any higher, the tins will be rattling for Cunnington this week
Same as week before. McKernan’s “touched” goal shown repeatedly but the “mark” that cost Dylan Clarke a goal. - not a mention.
Must have some good connections, how has he not been given a couple of weeks holiday for continued bad behaviour.
Cunnington’s incident with Merrett was assessed with Match Review Officer Michael Christian deciding that it was not a reportable offence, as the Kangaroo made contact with the ball.
Cunnington had been fined a total of $15,500 before Round 17 for four striking charges and one charge of making careless contact with an umpire.
He struck Fremantle’s Nathan Wilson, Port Adelaide pair Robbie Gray and Brad Ebert and most recently St Kilda’s Jade Gresham, for which he copped a $5000 fine. Because the Power incidents were in the same game, they collectively counted as his second offence.
The AFL removed the rule which automatically gave out a suspension for three fines after the 2017 season.
Another low-level strike could have seen Christian refer Cunnington to the Tribunal, after being fined for a ‘third and subsequent’ offence last week.
“In all honesty, the fact that he’s done it four times and not missed a game is the reason he keeps doing it,” Melbourne great Garry Lyon said on Fox Footy on Saturday.
“And Steve Hocking should be down at the boundary looking at that and going, ‘well, he hasn’t learned his lesson because there’s been no consequence apart from the dollars out of his pocket.’”
St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt suggested the AFL had failed to deliver on its pre-season promise to crack down on punches.
“And we’re probably not talking about it as in-depth as we are if it’s not for the form leading in,” he said.
“So last week he does something similar, he cops a fine.
“The AFL talked a big game at the start of the year about stamping these sort of incidents out. Well, we haven’t seen it, so the behaviour continues.”
Sydney young gun Jordan Dawson and Gold Coast midfielder Anthony Miles are both set to miss a week for rough conduct charges.
Dawson’s incident with Carlton’s Paddy Dow was graded as careless with medium impact and high contact, with Miles’ incident with Adelaide’s Riley Knight collecting the same gradings.
Two Port Adelaide players have been fined from a spiteful loss to Brisbane, with Dougal Howard copping a $3000 sanction for rough conduct against Lachie Neale.
Sydney’s Zak Jones can accept a $1500 fine for striking Carlton’s Darcy Lang.
North Melbourne’s Kayne Turner can accept a $3000 fine for striking Essendon’s Dylan Shiel.
Brisbane’s Josh Walker can accept a $2000 fine for rough conduct on Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak.

Let’s just be grateful that Merrett didn’t get suspended for headbutting Cunnington’s fist.
Cunnington knew what he was doing. Who the hell looks to knock a ball out of someone’s hand with an uppercut motion?
Very easy to punch the ball on the way to the chin if you want to.
Also, the ball was always going out of bounds. There’s no point in trying to do that in the first place.
DOG
Oh, there’s no doubt he was attempting to gut punch Zach at full force.
The dog is fortunate the ball was there.
I’d just like to point out that in R6 2017, Toby Greene made contact with the ball and still got 2 weeks (early plea, the original penalty was 3 weeks) for striking Caleb Daniel.
Now let’s not get carried away with facts.
Fact is Cunnington, the man’s is a thug when he can be, he is. He will continue to be until he gets a few weeks holiday or really hurts someone. Thanks AFL.
Precedents mean absolutely nothing in the zany world of the AwFL.
All that matters is optics and maximising the profits to pay to Kim Jun Gil and his cronies.
Lucky for both players the initial contact was shoulder height and slipped up to get Merrett high. At no stage did Cunnington look at the ball. That straight arm swing was not a spoiling action. If anything he accidentally missed him.
If he gets suspended he should have another 2 weeks added on for being a repeat offender and a shithed
Ummm… The vision shows that he got Guelfi in the head with an elbow. If he’s “deemed to have missed,” then surely Guelfi gets done for staging… MRO logic…
Blicavs is tall and athletic…and is also find for staging
