Big Wheels⌠making nice noises whilst over here in the UK.
Even Paulina doesnât have a clue
My Mum recommended this to me.
SoâŚobviously Iâm reluctant.
ButâŚshall we talk about Cold Chisel?
Really?
I think I might regret thisâŚbut sure, letâs talk about one of the greatest Australian bands of all timeâŚboth live and on record.
(How did you like my opening salvo?
)
You have a cool mum ![]()
WellâŚokay.
Letâs accept that they were the most important Australian band from â77 to â83.
And that their legacy lasted until â89.
As it should.
Can we then talk about how the lead singer then released the most commercial US country album Ever?
And the guitarist went straight to boring MOR for a couple of years before disappearing?
And the only one of any substance was Don Walker?
God damn i love a good music discussionâŚ
Ssshhh
âŚheâs replying
Fair point
The fact that they are selling out concerts for their 50th anniversary tour seems to suggest that their legacy is ongoing!
Completely, and utterly, irrelevant when discussing Cold Chisel and their legacy
Ian Moss is still aroundâŚbut seriously, what a poor argumentâŚhow many other well known band members faded into relative obscurity after the end of the band that helped make them famous??
Maybe you should follow your mumâs advice and watch the vidâŚyou might learn something.
LMW loves Billy Joel, Elton John.
Letâs not gild the lily here.
Cold Chisel were an amazing band. But theyâre not relevant now and havenât beenâŚas I said, with their ongoing legacy, which was deserved, since â89.
I would Love to say that this generation recognises that little piano intro, but they donât.
Iâm very happy to celebrate those seven years.
Theyâre pretty perfect.
What followedâŚwasnât.
