Thanks @OBITV. I’ll be sure to check them out. ![]()
His Greatest Hits might be a good place to start.
When I first wanted to listen to more of him, a mate recommended “Murder Ballads”
It’s probably my favourite of his…great lyrics throughout the entire album.
My personal favourite is The Good Son, but I’d say jump in anywhere on his 7-album run from Tender Prey in 1988 to No More Shall We Part in 2001. The ones mentioned above are all great.
Tender Prey was the first album I listened to of Cave.
Let Love In is probably my favourite, and not just for the obvious song.
N trance are so back, I‘ve been waiting so long for this and what a tune!
I have found myself listening to….. Steve the Hair from Stranger Things. For real…
This sounds like it could have been from a lost Cars album.
And there’s this song which has been everywhere lately. It grew on me.
I feel like this will be way more in others wheelhouse than mine
I kinda liked the Heavy Petting Zoo album, but I couldn’t call myself a NOFX fan.
I like this, though. I think I might like more of their stuff, too.
Interesting stuff, I’ve never listened to them before. That guy in the second video has a gnarly gruff voice.
Edit: ok, he’s The D.O.C. and co-wrote The Chronic with Dre. His voice changed after a severe car crash.
I’m treating myself to a day of favourite albums.
The list so far is:
Led Zeppelin IV
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Born To Run
Wish You Were Here
Hotel California
A Farewell To Kings
The Wall
Synchronicity
It’s been a good day so far ![]()

So
Disintegration
Does (the second) Dekadance count as an EP, and if so…?
(I have the first one still sealed, Canadian pressing, though).
Only if you’ve got it in the cigarette-pack style cassette packaging…
Chanced upon new U2 and Foo Fighters songs this morning.
Both are… something.
I’ll give FF credit for trying a slightly different sound, but… it ain’t much of a song.
And the mix for both of them… awful… everything set to 11… no dynamics at all and tiring on your ears…
Haven’t listened to either but I feel like I know what I’m gonna get from both.
Tend to agree.
I understand the urgency with Bruce and U2, but it doesn’t make for great songs.
There’s something in the Edge’s playing which goes back to their roots that I appreciate, but that’s the best I can say for the EP.
U2 are not punk. Have never been punk. It’s kind of embarrassing for them to pretend to be.
And the structure of the songs…they’re sprawling messes.
Take another couple of months and put out a Good song.
Worthy, but…sigh
Edit: and…also…they’re so on the nose.
I get it. You want to…
But Bad is good because it doesn’t literally, directly, y’know…
Some of the reviews of this EP are just downright embarrassing. Anyone would think U2 have just released Never Mind The Bollocks v.2.0. It’s not farking punk. It’s about as punk as farking Coldplay.
U2 have been seriously paddling for years. They’ve completely forgotten everything that made them good and interesting. They hit paydirt with All That You Can’t Leave Behind (which I maintain is as safe, sterile, uninteresting, shopping centre PA system an album as there ever was) and have settled into that groove ever since.
Only it’s worse than that… now they’re constantly hitching up with whoever’s hip at the time trying to keep themselves relevant (I see Ed Sheeran has got a guernsey this time around FFS)…
