Well, okay, Danse Macabre is no Rio, but it is quite good.
I dunno, man. I’m just saying a lot of people disagree with you about those two albums. Not everything has to be an argument.
I think You Want It Darker is a very good album.
What two albums are we talking about now?
New topic
The Seeds of Love is Tears for Fears best album!
The Rising and Wrecking Ball.
Ok…just for the record, I am a lifetime Springsteen fan…didn’t think much of his first two albums but Born to Run was/is a farking masterpiece.
I have both those albums on my playlist…I’m not saying that they’re bad (they wouldn’t be on my playlist if they were) but that they’re nowhere near as good as that period from 1975-1984 of his.
True.
I mean…that’s why I started from '75.
Not really a band, and probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but James Taylor always seems on top of his game. He is also an incredible guitarist.
Johnny Cash had a long career bookended by strong recordings.
What would you know…you’ve never listened to anything released past the early 70s ![]()
I can’t.
But… I can think of plenty who are still chugging along being themselves and putting out stuff which is varying degrees of average, forgettable or just ok… but at least not embarrassing.
The bit that gets me with U2 is them trying to hook up with whatever producer/songwriter/artist is cool at the time in the name of relevancy.
If U2 are going to be a pale version of U2, at least do it being U2. FFS, don’t go doing it getting propped up by the farking Blackeyed Peas…
I’m going to write to Bono tonight and ask him to send you a personal apology for all the emotional distress he has caused you.
I’m sure you’ll get a beautiful and caring response.

Well I did just mention Tom Waits and Andre Williams records I love from the 90s, 2000s and 2010s… but you and I both know where my preferences lay…
Did you see my response to you in the “Hot Takes” thread? ![]()
Currently thinking of a measured and respectful response…
Good. He can apologise for putting that farking awful album on my iPod unsolicited while he’s at it.
Does it go something like… Fark You!!!
Common ground at last…that really p*ssed me off
Back to the “name an artist still producing good music 40 years later”
And I give you Joe Jackson
1979 - I’m the Man
2019 - Fool
(full disclaimer…I’m a big Joe Jackson fan…love just about all of his stuff…and still think that he was one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen)
