I don’t listen to new music, but hey look! This is a month old and I like it!
I thought this band were all of the J’s but…this song doesn’t sound like that.
It reminds me of someone. I wanna say Tom Petty, but it’s not that. It’ll come to me.
Anyway, it’s nice.
And…kinda real.

Edit: Got it! It reminds me of The Beat! Just…a little more laid back.

Love the War on Drugs. This one sounds very ā€˜Drugs’ but new and fresh at the same time. God their good live!

I’ve always thought that if conflict breaks out that would be a great way to get through it.

The only new music I tend to listen to is new music from those I already like. Like these guys.

I do regularly try the ā€œnew music for youā€ playlists on the streamers but they are invariably not for me.

I have had some luck finding things I like after my playlists end and the algorithm kicks in, but the hit rate is Menzies-like.

Eight Australian artists in the top twenty.
Seems a lot.
I’ve had a very cursory look for more, but…I’d be interested to know when was the most.
Google/Ai is no help.
I would have guessed more ā€˜85 than ā€˜87 without seeing this.

Edit: I mean in any given week. This is from this week in ā€˜87. Not the whole year.

#20 my pick

What a ghastly time, musically-speaking.
1987 is probably the absolute nadir for music for mine… so many acts there becoming beige versions of themselves, releasing overproduced bilge.

Too many posts to go through so apologies if already mentioned, the new Kevin Morty album is quite beautiful, fans of indie folk Americana twang will love it.
