They are so close to the salary cap. If they drop around $1mil of salary they then get a share of the money from other teams over the cap which could be around $20mil.
I’m not sure if buying players out will affect the salary cap.

It’s a large price to pay for a centre. His stats are okay, but he can be exposed against the best centres. Nothing like Kessler.

It seems we’re in full Cooper Flag mode now, largely due to an horrendous injury run , but this feels like a shift in outlook from the hierarchy. Finish low, accumulate every first round pick you can get , hope for luck in the lottery, reset around Ball and Miller next season ( hopefully).
I’m not pleased to see Williams go. If you’re a Lakers fan, be aware that injuries have reduced Williams to what he’s currently showing. Get him fit and he can be a very agile and mobile shot blocker / roamer, even if he is never the big super physical centre.
Knecht was mentioned many times as a possibility for Charlotte in the last draft. He might bring some shooting ability for a squad that lacks it. But goodness me, we are tiny now.

So if we do a Kleiber move, we could get under the salary cap and get someone in the buy out market. But we’d need to add picks for that kind of trade.
