I know nothing of Cam Reddish. Just a salary juggle to make the deal work?
I don’t mind having Knecht on the list, he brings some things we need (,potentially) , but structurally the roster is now anaemic.

Pretty happy with what heat have got, Jimmy staying and going for legit nothing was a real chance
Cam is average defensively. Not great, but not terrible. Offensively he’s okay, but teams aren’t afraid of leaving him. He was actually a good shooter at college level, but that hasn’t replicated at NBA level. He was doing okay for us. this year until Max Christie started getting more time and showed he can defend better and is probably a more consistent and dependable shooter.
Knecht is going to be great. He can score very quickly. But can also go cold. He makes opposition defenders react. You cannot leave him open. Also, he isn’t just a spot up shooter. He cuts to the basket very well, so Ball will love finding him when he draws defenders. He also has no troubles faking the 3, waiting for the defender to over commit and then he goes straight to the basket for a floater or at times a dunk. Even on the fast break, he ‘surprises’ you by going to the basket very hard. But defensively, he was being targeted and struggled to deal with that at times. He’s young, so he’ll eventually work through his problems.
Now that I’ve looked at a few of Williams better games in the last month, he seems okay. Scored well a few times. Seems a good rebounder. Just hopefully we can keep him on the court to see it. Maybe he can be a Luka ‘lob threat’ like Gafford was.
The one thing I don’t like about this trade is that we have nothing left to trade until the pre-season. I don’t think teams want Rui. I think teams do want Reaves, but the Lakers won’t trade him. We’ve got very little left to trade and still need defensive wings.
Who knows. Maybe Lebron opts out, we sign someone cheaply and then Lebron signs on at a reduced salary. It was what he was hoping to occur last pre-season, but no one wanted to go to the Lakers then. With Luka, that may change.
Schroder traded twice in the same trade period. How often does that happen?
(And fair enough just quietly, he bombed at gsw)
Doncic and Williams make Lakers a contender. And they’ve barely given up a bag of chips.
I’m jealous.
I’m intrigued to see how Williams fits. He’s played on a pretty poor team, so unless he’s flashy like Lamelo, he’s pretty invisible.
We still need a perimeter defender. I’m not sure if the stats show it, but it seems like we get burned by good teams who have outside shooting.
Gabe, Vando and DFS are good, but we need one more. It’s going to be tough playing Lebron, Luka and Reaves on the court at the same time as our defense will be severely limited.
I think OKC and Denver will beat us in a 7 game series the way the team is constructed right now.
I’d back ourselves against the Rockets.
The rest are either 50/50 at best.
And I still think we drop down to a play-in spot.
Lakers aren’t a contender. They’ll play a 3-man defence with Bron and Luka on the floor together. They’ll need to score 140 to be sure to win. Luka has never been a good defender, LeBron refuses to defend. Everyone is gonna eat playing against the Lakers.
The ■■■■■ Brothers!
Suns moved Nurkic to Hornets.
Schroder, after the trade to the Jazz from GSW, has been traded to Detroit.
Marcus Smart to the Wizards.
Amazing trade, what happened to Smart?
Mavs and Rockets going to be in Melbourne in October for preseason games.
Edit: Turns out teams not settled yet
So trade period down and I don’t think anything really changes?
Mavs probably get marginally better but they’re not a contender
Lakers probably get worse in the short term trying to find a way to fit Luka/LeBron/Reaves into a winning system but better long term
GSW get marginally better if they can integrate Butler
Spurs get better but not enough
So it’s still Boston, then Cavs/OKC, then the rest?
The Mavs can be a contender if everything falls into place. Problem is they’re hitching their wagon on 2 flighty, super talented but injury prone 1a type players. Neither have shown they can win a title as the best player on a team. The basketball fit is good, the Mavs instantly get better defensively with AD. They are the most under pressure franchise in the NBA for what they did in trading Luka.
Agree with everything you say re the other teams. I’m a fan of Memphis but they probably needed a trade such as getting Butler to add that extra piece. Jimmy got what he wanted but yeah not sure how much better GSW get with him.
They will lose to the Celtics today and then drop below 0.5 against the rockets at home in what was to be Luka’s return match . It will be fitting
Brooklyn and Ben Simmons working on a contract buyout. Cleveland and the Clippers his most likely landing spots…
