Australian Pacific Airports Corporation (APAC) have a 50 year lease from the Feds which is only about halfway through its term.
APAC is a private consortium owned by investors that are mainly involved in super funds and I still think AMP is the largest shareholder.
APAC has been pretty much granted an open slather approach to upgrading airport facilities

The article appears to reference this application regarding removal of protected grassland.
That permit application and one of the images in the article of the proposed new development all show it on the vacant land opposite DHL and away from the hangar. Seems like a whole lot of nothing so far but that may just be because they couldn’t get anyone willing to comment.

There is special remnant grassland on the basalt plains which is unique and there isn’t much of it, linked historically to indigenous occupation of the region.
There is one patch preserved , visible from the Sunbury rail line.

Why Collingwood moved from Vic Park to get state of the art training facilities, which couldn’t be developed at Vic Park.
Also like Hawthorn, no space at Glenferrie ( with oval width about as small as that of Windy Hill)

If we were forced to move, and the bowls club moved out, would there be enough space for a complete redevelopment of Windy Hill??
It would be a bigger area than what Collingwood have.
How much space do you really need??

The Cricket Club would need to move as well. At the moment, WH is unavailable for footy between Sept - April.

Probably not, the ground is a weird shape and isn’t big enough.
Moonee Valley council are not averse to high rise developments, so technically, we could just build up and leave the oval as is.

And move the cricket club to Cross Keys or something.
