Fog, Essendon may miss out but may develop other plans. I honestly don’t know but will know more in next two weeks. Still be be determined. StKilda wanted Sydney not us and they were first.
I think Patrick Smith has said the dumbest things he has ever said ever in this. which is saying something. http://www.sen.com.au/news/10-15/sheedy-smith-and-bartlett-on-annual-country-game#vXMAipijmA2AKHYk.97Instead of ridiculing stuff, why dont those two clowns organise a "city" game if they are so outraged by a country game.

This game will be the perfect opportunity to trot out for the 20 gazillionth time, the story of Billy Brownless kicking the footy over the wheat silo out at Jerilderie.Oh joy! Can’t wait for that.
To be fair brownless is about the size of a wheat silo and has the same IQ as one so it kind of fits.

Surely we should play in that one. After all, Smack is on our list.
BAN LIVE EXPORT.
Can’t think of a more dull and one sided ‘blockbuster’ than this.
Apparently the AFL are giving Geelong an extra home game at Skilled Stadium next year and we're playing there.Please tell me your joking!

Definitely Footscray, a fair few other VFL clubs could stake a claim too.
Think it’s a good idea, seems strange timing though. Would’ve thought spreading these games out over the season would make more sense?
Was just reading Firewise (formerly known as the Fireman - goes out to CFA members) and some notes about the Country Game, from CFA CEO Lucinda Nolan:
-
Essendon, Geelong and the CFA are linking up in a number of ways including auctioning off the jumpers for CFA Mental Health Initiatives and the Winter Fire Safety campaign;
-
Essendon are providing 250 tickets to the match for CFA participants to the parade before the match;
The AFL are also making cheaper tickets available to CFA members.
This response was generated by a question in a post from @efc1robbo in the Courtney Dempsey thread, but it really did digress from Courtney, so here it is in the right place.
I like Dempsey, and understand what he brings to the group off field, but I'd delist him myself. Would like to see him kept at the club in some sort of welfare role if there is anything suitable available.Even if there’s not im sure the club can create a role, just like they did with Sheedy but i have NFI what he does
@efc1robbo Been wondering this myself, does he spend his time with the coterie’s and sponsors? Or does he do something/anything else?
Making the Country Game a marquee event is a major project for Sheedy, and given the enormity of the ANZAC Day game and Dreamtime at the G, if he can make it a genuine celebration and morale boost for rural Victoria, then he will again have achieved something special. The impact this could have shouldn’t be underestimated, the campaign to get consumers to buy non supermarket branded dairy produce to support struggling dairy farmers struck a cord earlier this year, so there is potential if the right approach is found. I would also point to the relative success of GWS to GC as an indication of the Sheedy touch, both have had enormous support from the AFL and GC had much more success with their big name players in Gary Ablett and Karmichael Hunt, but the more substantial on the ground work that Sheedy did to build the support base and the corporate support I suspect will have a more lasting impact, not to mention a superior club culture which I’m sure he influenced. I’m sure they didn’t make him their first life member and name their champion player award for nothing.
I found this recent article on a Fox Sports News report that indicates this focus, as well as the fact that Richmond is still after him:
…
Kevin Sheedy approached by Richmond — AFL Media Watch
COACHING legend Kevin Sheedy has revealed he has previously rejected offers from Richmond to return to the club.
The Tigers have plans to revamp their football department, including introducing another senior football operations figure to create a structure similar to St Kilda’s.
“I have been approached by certain people (at Richmond) for a couple of years,” Sheedy told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.
“But in the end at the moment, I’m at Essendon working on the monster country game next year. That’s my major project.”
While not interested in returning to Punt Road, Sheedy said the Tigers did need to take action given their sustained lack of success.
“They should do something,” he said.
“Thirty-five years without premiership is a long

Love the idea, great work. We are suddenly the flavour of the month at AFL house, Gil realises how much money we bring to the table
