Is Naim playing midfield? I mentioned a few weeks back he is my smokey to get drafted, has some nice tools if played around the ball.

I do wonder if we do get a top 3 pick if we split to go down the order for a a top 10 pick and future top tenner from another team in prep for Koby. I suppose it depends on where they rate certain players but could be one way to get the capital for the 2027 draft.

We could also trade a player to Tassie for a pick or 2.

smallish half forward today

It just keeps getting better for this ■■■■■■■ club :joy::joy:

Meanwhile Arki Butler was ace today.

His old man was not big on the physical side.

Operation Get Bewick Cheap has officially started

It’s a tough one, i would rather the top end talent of a pick 1-3 then pushing back and then try to work deals for 28 picks for 27

Let’s pray that is the case maybe coinciding with the old man’s employment

Thanks for the update. Shame he didn’t get much of a preseason but hopefully builds into the season

Koby Bewick (2027 eligible)
14 disposals (9 kicks, 5 handballs)
1 mark
1 tackle
2 rebound 50’s

As Scott said, carrying something so not his usual bouncy, rangy self. Anyone who has watched him more than one other time will know that he just looked ‘off’ today and the carrying something explains it.

Played largely half back and was not his usual self.

Jad Naim (2026 eligible)
13 disposals (7 kicks, 6 handballs)
3 marks
4 Inside 50s
1 goal, 1 behind

Not a huge possession getter but what he does do is positively impacts games from either the wing or half forward. Kicked a nice goal from the pocket and set up a couple of other shots on goal. Would need to get moving to get on our radar but I like him.

Moustafa Darwish (2027 eligible)
9 disposals (8 kicks, 1 handball)
2 marks
2 tackles
3 Inside 50’s / 3 Rebound 50’s
1 goal

As many would know, I am a MASSIVE Darwish fan, just does the simple things well, makes good decisions and will bring team mates into the game. At one stage early bit off “that 45” kick and although didnt hit it, opened the game up. Will be really keen on getting him in 2027.

Tevita Rodan (2027 eligible)
8 disposals (3 kicks, 5 handballs)
1 mark
2 tackles
2 Inside 50’s

Not much to report on with Tevita, played mostly inside with some time behind the ball as well. Can see him filling out into that solidly built VFL type, ■■■ AFL type midfielder. Koby Stevens, George Stevens, James Hallahan etc

Why does it matter anymore unless they’re the best 1 pick of the generation?

New rules will mean you need to pay near on market price

Because it’s a compromised draft. If you get access to a top 3 pick in a compromised draft it’s a huge bonus.

It’s irrelevant if you have to pay fair value, you’re paying for access to a kid no one else can take in potentially the spot of the draft you’re not otherwise able to access.

But if he’s rated 3rd best in the country (for example) and Tassie bid on him with pick 3, aren’t we going to have to give up the equivalent of around pick 4-5?

Yes, and how is that not a positive to get access to him? The alternative is we have pick 8 for example and don’t have access to him and get the 8th best player on talent instead of the 3rd.

My guess is Kobe will be around the pick 10-20 range.

Look I’m not saying that it’s not a net positive (if he was 3rd best player in the country and we only give up pick 4 or 5for him) but if that was the net result, let’s not spend 2 years worrying about that because it’s bloody marginal and the club has far greater things to worry about
