I’m glad we’ve allowed Kirk to walk though. The two years we offered were fine, but four for a 35yo coming off an achilles is far too big a risk.

Yeah the money he got for four years is insane. Especially for a QB coming off that type of injury and who is someone that is constantly talked down as a “non finisher” by opposition fans.
He wins free agency though.
Apparently all his wife’s family live in Atlanta so this was a good move for him.

The amount of money he has made the last 5yrs is INSANE
He’s a QB who is the definition of “good enough.” Good enough to put up stats, good enough to make playoffs, good enough to earn money come free agency. He sits comfortably above the Dalton Line, he could even make a Superbowl on a team like the 49ers where the roster around him is stacked, but he’s never going to “will” the team to a win or inspire like Tom Brady did on the Buccs.
The Vikings weren’t set up for a guy like him to succeed when he came over in 2018. The O-Line was weak and we had a cantankerous and stubborn (albeit very good) defensive-minded coach who was never going to make the necessary adjustments to the team ethos to help Kirk succeed.
If I’m the Falcons GM I’m targeting the biggest O-line maulers in the upcoming draft. Protect him and they’ll be able to get 4k+ yards next season out of him

The Fields situation seems to be that the Bears might have to keep him, a bit like the 49ers did with Lance last season, until another team suddenly develops a need.
Jimmy G was released by the Raiders.
Mike Williams released by the Chargers, have to wait and see if anyone is interested. He’s 30 and coming off an ACL, but is an exceptional talent when on the field. They’ve also reportedly restructured Khalil Mack’s contract, so that may mean they will trade/cut Joey Bosa (who also has injury concerns).
And Austin Ekeler has reportedly agreed to terms with Washington.

I hope for our sake they do. And if it doesn’t happen under Harbough, then I’ll probably lose all hope that it can happen at all.
Keenan Allen traded from the Chargers to the The Bears for a 4th round pick. Of all the high-priced guys on the Chargers list, Allen was the one I wanted to keep the most. With Allen and Williams gone, I guess we’ll be drafting a WR in the first round now.

The best defensive player of his generation, and probably the best defensive player since LT in the 1980s.
Fitting that he made the game winning play in the Superbowl a few years ago.
