I don’t think he’ll go this off-season, but say if they aren’t in a playoff spot come next trade deadline… both parties might start thinking about it.
Imagine the haul you could get for him? Like 3 x First rounders, 2 top 6 forwards, and a goalie or a 1st pair D.

getting Mcdavid at his peak for WAY unders ($12.5m) for a season and half, is worth a mighty haul. And every team in the comp would pay it.

The off-season is going to be “ interesting”
I can see the Oilers maybe dangling Nugent Hopkins or even Drysiedel out there. They need a mini reboot while they have McDavid.
The other guys are great- he is generational.
Put a good defence behind him, and get a decent forward to partner up.
