NRL 2023

“puts it all in perspective” is code for “truth be told i don’t fkng care about any of this”

Yep exactly. There’s people here in QLD that would divorce their wives and marry State of Origin if it were legal. They exist purely for this 7-8 week period of Rugby League.

QLDers passion for origin, rivals any supporters passion for any sport anywhere in the world I reckon.

And that Panthers lot are

D
U
D
S

At origin level.

Or just saving themselves for the real stuff.
For NSW players, winning the Premiership is all that matters and SOO is secondary. For QLD players SOO is all that matters and a Premiership is secondary. It’s all a mindset

Must be embarrassing that the 2 most successful clubs since it went “national” are Brisbane and Melbourne.

Not really embarrassing. Melbourne have been a great club over the journey but there has only been 2 QLD winners in the last 20 years and hopefully it’s another 60 years before we see them win again
Winner this year will most likely come from NSW or Melbourne

Fair overlap between Melbourne and QLD SOO side, though.
I don’t know who you’re trying to convince here, if NSW players didn’t care about SOO, there’s no chance those guys would be out there.

They’re just not as good as QLD, simple as that.

They aren’t as good as QLD this year most definitely but in many other years have they should have done better and had better teams I believe. They don’t generally care about SOO anywhere near as much QLD though. I remember going to a top tier Roosters function with my brother about 5 years ago and Robinson in his address flat out stated that he would prefer none of his players to be involved in SOO and Tedesco similarly spoke about how as much as he enjoyed the NSW camps and playing in SOO but his number 1 priority was winning a Premierships for Easts. Obviously being at a club function he is going to say stuff like that but I just haven’t seen any real passion in the NSW side for a number of years. I honestly think they have given up on it and I doubt they will win again anytime soon.
Personally I’m not fussed if they don’t win it again as long as a QLD side doesn’t win the Premiership

They’d probably be better off playing the Penrith FB (Edwards?) over Tedesco anyway.

I turned it over just as the blue was developing. Thought I saw a touch of buttage but then read that 3 players got the tijuana.

That’s wiped the smug look off your face Bennett you ■■■■■■■■

Eels highest first half score in history, 42-4 up at the break

God I hate Manly.
Screw them.

My newish neighbour across the road confessed to being
A. Hawthorn fan
B. Man U fan

Then, just to top everything off, for 3 strikes

C. Manly fan

Admittedly there are other NRL teams I can’t cop like the Roosters, the Panthers and the Sharks, but that lot trump them.

One of my brothers lived in Sydney for many years (followed the Eels) and he reckons that Manly are the Farkcarlton of the NRL.

As a lifetime Eels member I fully agree with him. In our family we have supporters of the Eels, Chooks, Tigers and Souths and the hatred of Manly is shared by all. The Broncos hatred is another level up on that though

The daughter and I have recently started following the NRL and the Raiders.
We both hate the Broncos already and we’re wondering who else we have a big rivalry with?, cheers.

I never hated the Broncos just because all the Manly bigwigs like Kerry Packer were so keen to get guys like Wally Lewis to Manly, and then the Broncos came in and kyboshed them.

We had a few Manly supporters in our Sydney office. They were very much the fark Carlton types.

The Raiders are pretty much seen as a neutral and for many fans of Sydney clubs they are almost their “second team”
Raiders fans I know all count the Broncos as their biggest rivals but their is some deep dislike for the Tigers amongst the older fans. There was a real rivalry with the Steelers so when they merged with the Dragons some of the rivalry continued. For younger fans and those newer to the Raiders I’d think the Panthers would be their “main” rivals

A lot of those Queenslanders who were there before the Broncos kicked in were at the Raiders. Mal Meninga and Darren Lockyer come to mind first.

I would have said the Dragons, too.
