Last year the numbers were given out according to draft order. Expect the same again this year, notwithstanding some possible number changes for the likes of Dea, McKenna, Kelly.
Just using a little bit of logic and/or poetic licence, presuming Kelly and Dea WANT to change numbers:
16 - Green - (because he was 6 at Brisbane)
17 - Dea - (because he was 7 at Ninthmond)
19 - Kelly - (because he was 9 at Geelong)
…leaving:
1 - McGrath - (the first number one in our history would be poetic in the #1 guernsey)
14 - any of Ridley, Begley, Mutch, and Clarke, or McKenna uplifting
15 - any of Ridley, Begley, Mutch, and Clarke, or McKenna uplifting
38 - any of Ridley, Begley, Mutch, and Clarke
41 - any of Ridley, Begley, Mutch, and Clarke
…still keep 31 for Mason Fletcher in a couple of years…
The only question then remains is what is happening with Xavier Richards - if anything? His old #42 at Sydney is vacant here…
1 -McGrath
14 - Ridley
15 - Begley
16 - Stewart
17 - Green
37 - Mutch
38 - Clarke
Mutch and Clarke can earn upgrades in the next year or so. 19 left empty, but I figure Jerret won’t last and we can put two draftees together at 19 & 20 next year.
McGrath with the #1 guernsey would be awesome. the only issue is that if they give it to him, i can see media sh#theads pulling the “arrogant” card. The kid deserves it though. what a gun
