Numbers - 2017

Got a question for you lot... what's a cursed number that has been turned around?

We are hopeful it will happen someday with 17.

2 was ordinary before Mercuri. Those before him included Reid, Antrobus and Willie ■■■■!

Bryan Wood was OK wasn't he?

I think he had seen his best days before he came to us but was better than the other 3 listed.

I like Ridley in the 31.

No way, 31 should be earned

Number 3 had a bad trot with injury from salmon to chapman

16 wasn’t too well worn before Barnard. Such luminaries included Hanneberry, Banfield, Beddison and Hamilton.

Actually, it hasn’t been too well worn since Barnard either.

Beddison was said to be the best player out of the Wimmera.
But, like a lot of guys in those days, their duty to their family and working on the farmstopped their football careers

Number 1 hasnt been great for player retention, of late…

Neville Fields - South Melbourne
Merv Neagle - Sydney
Mark Harvey -
Andrew Ukovic - Collingwood
Mark Johnson - Fremantle
Jay Neagle - MacDonalds
Michael Hibberd - Melbourne

I rekn McGrath gets one of the numbers in the teens, then when Stants leaves, he inherits the #5. TBC moves to #1 (always viewed this number as a ruckmens number), Lang/Lav moves to #2 with the other Lang/Lav moving to #4 when Jobe retires.

They’ll probably give McGrath and Clarke two consecutive numbers between 14-17 so they can have their lockers next to each other.

You have to be a bit of a weirdo to care so much about which numbers the players wear

Crackers Keenan wore it for a year or 2 back in the 70s, so that’s 2 years out of the last 65 (Jack Clarke took it on in 1951), so yeah! Compelling argument for #1 being a ruckman’s number.

27 is no longer reserved for ruckmen, 19 just had 2 ruckmen. I think those days are over.

I wonder if Lang or Lav are going to get an upgrade

I like Ridley in the 31.

Paddy Ryder said he was going to move to 31 when Fletch retired, so likely to see it go there, man of his word is Paddy.

What about McGrath in the 31? Our first ever no 1 draft pick, given one of our most prestigious numbers. I’d support it.

Also Pazzas number list is one of the greatest trolls I have ever ever seen ever

I couldn’t think of anyone more worthy. If anything, I think Fletch should move to 30 when Paddy retires.

If 31 was going to be used, why not give it to Kel for a year and then place on hold for Fletch’s boy?

Maybe you have to be a bit of a weirdo to care so much about others who care so much about which numbers the players wear.

I’m a bit of a weirdo because I cared enough to LIKE that statement.
