Surely this news is simply taking the p1ss!
Part of me thinks Raz should GAGF. The other half is interested if he makes us better! Could he capture previous fitness and form? Unlikely but I’m still torn ![]()

Just play him to trigger Maynard’s PTSD
We absolutely MUST give Wanga another year. I think he’s actually going to be a gun. Such a unique player.
“I think it’s a real positive,” Scott told reporters on Thursday.
"Without wanting to dredge up any of the past, our club has been through some challenges over the last decade.
"We had some players, for whatever reason, haven’t wanted to be part of our club.
“Anytime there are players who are saying they want to come back to Essendon is a really good sign for our club and hopefully it’s a reflection of the vision we’re trying to set up here.”
He started 2019 very well, but “fell” into a bad form slump, literally the moment the reporter first broke the news that he wanted to head back to SA. It was in June or July 2019, and he maintained this “form slump” for the rest of the season, and throughout 2020.
I can understand the frustration at being at a club that was a rabble, and had mismanaged his injuries time and time again, but there is no excuse to just simply quit on your teammates.
He can get fked
Logically a Raz return is a mistake, but there’s a part of me that wants to yell ORRRAAAAAZZZZIIIIIIOOOOOOO again after he kicks a goal.
No way. I can’t believe he would put this out there, but hey, Ryder is back at the club, so we might be that stupid.
I’ve generally found reasons to explain / defend some of Dodoro’s / Forster-knights recruiting decisions.
Instant sackings if they even answer Orazio’s phone call. Ludicrous.
They probably called his manager first.
Can’t wait for Fantasia to tour the facilities and then say the “vibe” doesnt feel right before heading down the road to Stkilda
And yet they reached out to Ryder a few year as ago, to explore coming back to the club…… only to be turned down again, and he joined St.Kilda.
Simply embarrassing
Fantasia, Merrett and Joe Daniher were the three high-profile omissions from last year’s leadership group, with Merrett – vice-captain last year – out purely because of a player vote.
Orazio Fantasia was voted into the leadership group but turned down the role.
However Fantasia’s omission was more complicated. While he did not withdraw from the voting process, upon being voted in, the small forward declined the opportunity. Essendon sources told The Age Fantasia’s decision to turn down the position was made in order for him to focus on his football and recovery after several injury-riddled seasons.
The livewire forward was the focus of an offer from Port Adelaide late in last year’s trade period, before deciding to stay at the Bombers. He is contracted until the end of 2021.
Merrett has featured in the leadership group for the past four seasons, is one of the club’s brightest stars and as a 24-year-old All-Australian, the midfielder has been widely regarded as a future captain.
Essendon Bombers name 2020 AFL leadership group, leave out Zach Merrett (theage.com.au)
I don’t mind it if we spend a fourth of fifth rounder on him. Or get him as a delisted player. I’m surprised people have only talked about him being a small forward. I think he would be a useful half back for us. Obviously has pace and is a good kick. Perhaps that’s what he needs, being behind the ball may be good for his body.
It’s not like we have an abundance of half backs. Hind is up and down, Lord is definitely no sure thing.
You realise he cant get on, nor stay on the park, yeah?
yep - footy ability is not the issue with him. It’s his body.
Yes.
Worth a punt tho IMO.
This draft, I have heard experts say, falls away very quickly.
Honestly, this guy can GAGF. He has no interest in Essendon, he just wants to play football and is desperate enough to come back, in the hope EFC is stupid enough to sign him on again because nobody else will.
When he left, he and his manager made direct comments via the media that he would definitely not play for Essendon again; he made it a point to call out how difficult Essendon were and articles were released stating that he felt his best football was beyond Essendon and that he needed to be closer to family. He would also later make another complaint when JHF came over, likening his own experience with difficulties to come to Port.
If he wasn’t perma-injured and gave us a tilt, I suppose you have to do what you have to do. But when you combine all of it together, it becomes a pretty simple decision AFAIC.
Dodoro is a sucker for his relationships with the players…… they probably have a business relationship away from football.
Fantasia will know that Essendon is his best option because of Dodoro.
Bring back saad ![]()
Honestly, the amount of butt-hurt from a very deliberately-framed clickbait article from serial clickbait-artist Sam Manure is quite amusing really. @Speedy_Gonzales broke-down the “news” article beautifully somewhere in here (sorry Speedy I can’t find your post right now, but you totally nailed it…)
Edit:
Found it… 2023 trade talk - #3125 by Speedy_Gonzales
He’s at least ambulant
