Tim Watson tells the story about being billeted with Vander the night before a game early in his career. Can’t remember all the details, but pretty sure there were a few beers the night before, and a hamburger with the lot on the way to the game. They arrived a little late, because Vander supposedly had ‘Specials’ up on the pinball machine where they got the burger, and didn’t want to leave his free games…
