If Draper finds form and fitness there will be little tono justifying 2mp holding his place in the side. Either him or Goldy surely make way.
Some VFL time might not be the worst thing for 2mp right now.

Incorrect. Heās shown heās a very strong grab in a lead thatās not obstructed where thereās plenty of space in front of him and itās timed perfectly for him to reach at full stretch.

He was exactly the same before the Cunningham hit. It was the first bit of aggression heās shown and it cost him 4 weeks.

Just isnāt a competitor at all, you donāt mind if he isnāt kicking goals if he is splitting packs apart and offering other things but he is just invisible at the moment.
There was a shot from behind our goals during the game and it was like he was running with skis on heās feet he was that slow

So you were wrong when you said he didnāt take contested marks then, you meant he needs to take more?

. Go watch the 7 congested grabs available on the AFL website as I started to if youre that wedded to him being a great contested marker. One of them was on the lead outside 50 against the pies and not contested ffs so I gave up after that as Stevie Wonder can see that 2MPās a ā ā ā ā poor contested mark.

I get your point though. In his current form heās arguably more of a liability.

Heās a very, very good lead and mark player, and heās a take it to the bank set shot.
Heās a terrible contested mark, but heās much better than he was. He doesnāt actually get outmarked when itās contested anymore, at least not as much as he did.
He brings the ball to the ground when itās congested.
So, there are two problems here.
The first is that weāre not playing a game that suits his strengths. And again, Iād like to emphasise that he does have strengths, and that theyāre desirable.
The second is that not only donāt we have a specialist small forward that would fill his belly on the contests he creates, we also donāt have the mids that are kinda sorta good at it, and againā¦weāre not playing a game that suits that anyway.
But I meanā¦sure, if weāre going to play a small-ball game, then itās pretty stupid to have him in the team.
ā¦weāre not, though. Thatās the other problem.
We just keep dumping it long and saying, āsave us, Peter! Do that thing we know youāre not good at!ā

Given the number of marks Wright drops, a talented small forward would kick about 50 goals a season.
Injuries to our midfield aside Iād love to see Merrett spend more time there. Reckon he has some very good SF nous.
