Peter "2MP" Wright - GETTING YOUR MOJO BACK, PETER?

He is playing no different to last year after the Carlton game.

Hes been finished for 12 months.

If Draper finds form and fitness there will be little tono justifying 2mp holding his place in the side. Either him or Goldy surely make way.

Some VFL time might not be the worst thing for 2mp right now.

Martin forward, bring in another small, caddy for Jones and a resting ruck. Worth a look

Incorrect. He’s shown he’s a very strong grab in a lead that’s not obstructed where there’s plenty of space in front of him and it’s timed perfectly for him to reach at full stretch.

Most of the hard work is done by the kicker

Then why has he taken 7 for the year - stat error?

He was exactly the same before the Cunningham hit. It was the first bit of aggression he’s shown and it cost him 4 weeks.

2Meek Peter

Just isn’t a competitor at all, you don’t mind if he isn’t kicking goals if he is splitting packs apart and offering other things but he is just invisible at the moment.
There was a shot from behind our goals during the game and it was like he was running with skis on he’s feet he was that slow

He averages <1 contested mark per game this year as a 200vm key forward that we deliver the ball to often……yeah ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  outstanding contested grab is Pete

So you were wrong when you said he didn’t take contested marks then, you meant he needs to take more?

You’re clearly Pete’s mum or boyfriend!

. Go watch the 7 congested grabs available on the AFL website as I started to if youre that wedded to him being a great contested marker. One of them was on the lead outside 50 against the pies and not contested ffs so I gave up after that as Stevie Wonder can see that 2MP’s a ā– ā– ā– ā–  poor contested mark.

Would it be bad if I was?

You said he hasn’t shown he can take a contested mark, you weren’t correct - it’s ok

Not in the slightest.

Not sure about that. Our best game last year was the Carlton win and Pete kicked 5 on return from injury.

I get your point though. In his current form he’s arguably more of a liability.

The ultimate insult!

He’s a very, very good lead and mark player, and he’s a take it to the bank set shot.

He’s a terrible contested mark, but he’s much better than he was. He doesn’t actually get outmarked when it’s contested anymore, at least not as much as he did.
He brings the ball to the ground when it’s congested.

So, there are two problems here.
The first is that we’re not playing a game that suits his strengths. And again, I’d like to emphasise that he does have strengths, and that they’re desirable.

The second is that not only don’t we have a specialist small forward that would fill his belly on the contests he creates, we also don’t have the mids that are kinda sorta good at it, and again…we’re not playing a game that suits that anyway.

But I mean…sure, if we’re going to play a small-ball game, then it’s pretty stupid to have him in the team.

…we’re not, though. That’s the other problem.
We just keep dumping it long and saying, ā€˜save us, Peter! Do that thing we know you’re not good at!’
Like freakin’ idiots.

Given the number of marks Wright drops, a talented small forward would kick about 50 goals a season.

Injuries to our midfield aside I’d love to see Merrett spend more time there. Reckon he has some very good SF nous.
