Peter "2MP" Wright - GETTING YOUR MOJO BACK, PETER?

Caddy for Wright

There is legitimately a case for this. The best football we played last year was without him. Same this year so far

He’s horribly out of form though, i will grant him that but yeah, our forward line always looks better without him imo

Zero intensity, not what you want from your big men. Take some Draper pills or off to VFL

Criticism of 2MP is warranted but I’d say our 2 best performances were GWS and pies.

He played in both of them.

Even the Sydney game we lost by 4-5 goals but looking back… going toe to toe with them on the SCG for the vast majority of the game was pretty decent too.

This is the worst part because you’re bang on. It will be the ol ā€œwe’ll back Peter in, he’s offering such as such to the structure that the coaches are clear onā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€

He gets to the ball often but either has very weak hands or he needs his eyes checked. In fact, 2MP, Harry Jones, Stringer, Goldstein and Langers are not holding marks much at all. 13 marks last night between them and most of those were on the chest.

Curnow, Harry Mackay and DeKonig didn’t have much more but they had others around them kicking goals.

Maybe its time to start training him as a ruck, he is mobile for a big guy and seems more assured with his marks around the ground

The frustrating with Wright is that he has shown he can take contested grabs. He just needs to clunk one early and then he is generally fine for the rest of the game. However if he doesn’t he us basically invisible.

The gap between his best and worst is the size of the Grand Canyon.

What farking marks ?

He took one on his chest all night and got his hands on plenty and dropped them all.

Probably the biggest shame is that he’s a deadeye outside 50 and anything remotely close to goal he can convert if he marks it

Just can’t mark it lol

I still think the Harry Cunningham hit and subsequent suspension has spooked him.

Said it at the time that he’ll either come back revitalised or an absolute shell of a player due to his demeanour/nature etc. Unfortunately it’s the latter.

Was it not a pretty general conclusion he was pretty soft before that hit? He’s always been this way imo

Problem is, you pick Caddy for Wright, who plays second ruck? You bring Bryan in as second ruck who do you drop for him? Maybe Jones?

Draper for Wright, if they want Caddy it’s for Jones or String

Agreed. He was/is.

For a player that loves being a bit ā€˜under the radar’, quite shy in regards to the media etc … I think it would have been a bit of a shock to the system. He is very reserved.

I think he’ll turn it around at some point but he looks hampered.

Feel like pure ā– ā– ā– ā–  just want 2MP back

Agreed. I was more trying to show that if you drop one player for another you have to look at the role they are playing and look at team balance. Too many just say ā€œdrop this person and play that oneā€ and don’t stop and consider the overall impact to team structure. I would definitely drop 2MP for Draper.

However I continue to have the same concern, our talls cannot take enough contested marks and it hurts us.

Its like he needs a cattle prod. I’ve never seen a big guy play with less intensity

He’ll turn it around at some stage but he’s not the answer long term as the #1 banana

Perhaps Joseph Daniher

He’s clearly been shaken by the hit and suspension earlier in the year. And is playing with kids glives on re leading and hitting packs.

Whats most upsetting to me is he was given 4 weeks suspension. I know he pleaded guilty.

Its was a very unfortunate incident and the swans player really made it a lot worse by their kamikaze like play in going back with flight of ball on that one.

Maybe just ruck Wright all game.

Was at match last night and Goldstein was terrible, winning the tap and tapping to Carlton all night and then unable to keep up with DeKoening once ball hit ground.

I actually think Wright did better at the ruck contests in terms of us winning the clearancebor not losing the clearance. But not sure if stats would back that onservation up.
