It’s 3 more !
I dunno, I’d like to see us just try use him to his strengths.
Not just whacking it on his head and hoping for the best, but giving him a leading lane and honouring his leads. He’s a deadeye, so doing that will pay dividends.
Ha! Who am I kidding. This is Essendon. We don’t do that.
This is the most astute post I have read on Blitz. We are using 2MP like a contested marking tall, when in fact his strength is on the lead, as was proven against the dogs when he kicked 7. The issue is, our gameplan is all about forward 50 entries and bombing it long is the easiest way to achieve this.
We have to use him like that, because he doesn’t lead. He just stands still and calls for the ball
It’s our gameplan.
Some of the time we dump it on his head. But when you watch him live, his workrate to actually lead and give an option is pathetic
Collingwood do this, difference being they move the ball into their forwards quickly and they actually have a couple of handy small forwards. We move it slowly, to allow us to”setup” I assume but that also allows the opposition to “setup”.
This is on the coaches … we have plan A, but nothing else
That’s because he is told to stand 25m out and provide a contest for our non existent small forwards.
What is annoying is Brad Scott did this really well for Ben Brown at North Melbourne.
Not a great contested mark so worked to his lead up and kick straight strengths. Kicked about 230 goals between 2016-2019.
I agree wtih Clone & Chris and have thought this for a couple of years. Our setup and subsequent delivery into the forward line does not cater for Peters strength, that of a leading forward.
Even Jake and Kyle haven’t been given any decent service lately and both are pretty good on a lead.
Because of our rubbish setup, we have Harry Jones and Coxy taking the odd grab by floating across packs to scrounge a goal. It’s not sustainable. It’s not that hard, clear out grand central station and give the forwards a chance. Have a few of the taller forwards lead up the ground more to create space. Get a few handy smalls to provide a threat at the feet of talls or running towards goal.
He’s also got about 20 guys standing in front of him because of our slow, chip-mark gameplan.
What’s he worth in the trade market?
Probably about what we paid for him. 4th rounder.
Dropped twice in a month at age 28 is never a good sign and not good for his value.
You’d get a 3rd rounder for him from a forward-needy team if it went that way.
Melbourne Demons
Contracted till 2027
If we are to trade him mid contract need something decent in return
Pfft, get his cash off the books ASAP. If anyone’s willing to take him, let him go.
Agree
If a club agrees that we pay for some of his contract then we would need something in return other wise its not worth it
Want at least a second rnd
I just don’t think we trade Peter. Caddy and Jones are our only real KPF hopes…and even then Jones has played up on a wing! Given Goldy will not be on the list next year, Visentini is very raw we’re not flush with tall players that can play forward!
Draft one. Absolutely no point moving forward with guys who aren’t prepared to compete.
