I think 2MP has sizeable talent but my concern is whether he has the hunger and drive to go to the next level. Iā€™ve heard he does need to toughen up a bit in this area.

GC really forced him out of the club. Him being happy to stay at GC whilst not getting any opportunity makes me question this drive and want to go to the next level.

He played in 17 games in 2019 and none in 2020.

Would have been some move, even for the enigma that is 2MP, to pack up the bat and ball during a season to get more opportunities.

All reports said he wanted to stay as he was happy there but GC wanted him out to free up cap room.

The other way you could look at it is that he is determined and wanted to win his spot back, rather than just leave. It depends on the spin you want the story to have. IMO, I think heā€™ll be a flop, but Iā€™m hoping he will dominate.

I canā€™t understand why we got him to be honest.

Ben Brown was available, managed by Rama, and not too much more expensive both in terms of salary cap and in terms of the trade value. Heā€™s a significantly better player than 2MP and we could have gotten 50+ goals out of him. Melbourne have gotten an absolute steal there, for mine heā€™s at least as good as Daniher.

2MP is a bit of a nothing player, has never proven himself to be AFL quality.

If we knew we were going to draft a bunch of young talls then we would have been far better off getting Brown as a 2 year prospect as we try to develop Jones, Eyre, Bryan or Cox into that role. Or alternatively just play the kids and see if theyā€™re up to it.

Excuse my laziness but do you have any idea the age difference? Could have been the biggest factor, perhaps that and the fact Brown is quite one dimensional in a way that may not suit our emerging game plan

Brown canā€™t ruck, even as a chop out.
Which means we have to play another tall ruck/forward.
Unless you want Langford Stewart or Stringer to chop out, in longer quarters remember.
Which is a bad idea.

Structure wise 2MP is selected against Bryan or Phillips.
Brown would have been competing against Stewart, Jones, Stringer, and next year Cox & Eyre as well.
