Really liked that article. I know it’s all standard pre-season fluff but as cheesy as it may sound, I want our players to understand how lucky they are to play for Essendon and feel a sense of pride when they don the sash.
I also keep forgetting that 2MP is still just 24 and clearly has plenty of upside left in him. A full, uninterrupted pre-season is an excellent way to start at your new club, so hopefully he can start to realise his potential and have a good career with us.
There are a few things l took from this article, and all of them are positives. Wright is a fan of Rutten’s direct approach. I believe other players on the list would also appreciate this style, l say this without knowing anything about Woosha’s coaching method, apart from his cliche line about the players being responsible for their own ‘learnings’, whatever that means.
The other aspect of this article that appeals to me is instilling all players with a sense of our history. Not just our sad recent history, which many on here are all too familiar with, but our entire history, which some choose to gloss over or disregard. Training one day a week at Windy Hill can only help increase that appreciation.
