Peter "2MP" Wright - SLIGHTLY COOKED, PETER?

Really liked that article. I know it’s all standard pre-season fluff but as cheesy as it may sound, I want our players to understand how lucky they are to play for Essendon and feel a sense of pride when they don the sash.

I also keep forgetting that 2MP is still just 24 and clearly has plenty of upside left in him. A full, uninterrupted pre-season is an excellent way to start at your new club, so hopefully he can start to realise his potential and have a good career with us.

Like what Truck is doing there was lot of criticism that Essendon didn’t feel like a football club and felt more like a corporate business instead

All I have got from this thread is that @Clone_Hirdy thinks Wright is a carbon copy of Daniher

Agree mate. Time will tell whether it has a positive impact on the players or not but here’s hoping.

Is that actually legit true?

It may be a tad higher, but we aren’t paying mega $$$ for him. I would be stunned if we were paying over $400k of his salary.

“The Suns, no longer needing the forward, will continue to pay some of Wright’s annual wage that reportedly sits at up to $500,000 per season.”

There are a few things l took from this article, and all of them are positives. Wright is a fan of Rutten’s direct approach. I believe other players on the list would also appreciate this style, l say this without knowing anything about Woosha’s coaching method, apart from his cliche line about the players being responsible for their own ‘learnings’, whatever that means.

The other aspect of this article that appeals to me is instilling all players with a sense of our history. Not just our sad recent history, which many on here are all too familiar with, but our entire history, which some choose to gloss over or disregard. Training one day a week at Windy Hill can only help increase that appreciation.

Predictions:

  1. Ben Brown’s knee will cause all sorts of dramas this year.
  2. Wright will kick more goals than Brown.
  3. All the Dodoro haters are going to love it.

  1. Agree.
  2. If he kicks 1 goal, it will probably be more than Brown this year.

And Wright will get more touches than Scully but possibly not Patton.

Patton has displayed a firm form recently in touching balls, but it’s definitely not the Wright way to score.

2MP will kick more goals this year than Joe and Brown combined.

And fantasia

And Smack

Didn’t Joe kick 4 goals in a practice match. How many goals has 2MP kicked in a practice match!

Let’s not get carried away.

If he kicks half as many as Joe does this year and provides some structure up forward, ill consider it a win of sorts.

Joe will kick 70+ goals in a premiership side.

2MP will kick 15 goals in a bottom 4 side.
