Places you visited as a child

If wobbies world sucked any harder, you'd have called it Bryce Gibbs.
And I think the 'iconic' helicopter is on some blokes farm on dandy Frankton road.

There's one of the original "Whirly birds" on Badger Creek Rd Healesville.

I dont think there is anymore smorgys thou.....Lingy took over Geelongs and bundoora burnt down...What ever happened to Sizzler?

Sizzler is still a thing in Queensland. Yummy fried bread.
Anyone remember Ollie's Trolleys? I worked in one when I was young (til I got sacked).
My memory might be playing tricks on me, but I'm sure that when I was very young we went to an actual Deer Park at Deer Park.
Edit: also, I don't know where it was, but while traveling we went to this indoor 'be a kid again' place, with stone gutters two foot tall and oversized chairs and tables and whatnot.

Used to go to the Ollie's in Essendon after games at Windy hill.  I remember their chicken being very good & the ice cream sundaes & milkshakes were the best around.

Apparently there was 2 "lion safari parks" one was in rockbank (which you can still see the toilet blocks with the writting on it) and the other was in bacchus marsh.

Visited the one in Rockbank.

A recent discussion at work come up about places we visited as kids, First one i can remember is "Wobbies World" ... which i am lead to believe now is a plant farm....Also somebody mentioned to me they went to lion safari park in bacchus marsh and rockbank.

A place more schizophrenic between 'awesome' and '■■■■■■ awful' than Wobbies World I have never seen.

Only went there once.  It had the most terrifying quasi-rollercoaster thing ever, not because it was actually fast or dramatic or did cool loops or anything.  In facts it was really soft and just had a few gentle slopes and u-turns.  But it was so ancient, decrepit and it juddered along shedding flakes of rust and other bits of itself while the prehistoric rails groaned and bent beneath the weight of the dodgy helicopter-shaped car - you were genuinely in fear of your life through the entire ride, cos the whole contraption just gave off a million-decibel ABOUT TO COLLAPSE AT ANY TIME warning.

But on the other hand, they had a tank!  And they let you drive it.  fark, I was 12 and I was DRIVING A REAL TANK.  Talk about the best thing ever.

Like the Scenic Railway at Luna Park !

Does anyone remember Leisure land? Gunbuya park had toboggans...

Went a few times to Gumbuya Park. Think it was school excursions.

The cuckoo is still awesome.
Interesting mention of the swagman. The big one was in FTG, but it mysteriously burnt down. Then it became Stylus nightclub, which mysteriously burnt down. Then it reopened as diamonds nightclub for a few months, which mysteriously burnt down.
Now its an Aldi, which won't burn down.

Went a few times to the Swagman. Fairly standard buffet food. Preferred the Cuckoo Inn.

The Bark Hut in Aireys inlet. Pretty awesome as far as huts made of bark can be.

What happened if your car broke down?

Isn’t the reason Lone star steak house, which took over from Sizzler, closed because the found gizm in the potato salad?

There was something suss about the closure of lone star.

I thought it was because they declared the shelled peanuts on the floor a health hazard. I think the Lone Star followed the Sizzler down on the corner of North Rd and Nepean Hwy.

Fun City in sunshine, Had the laser tag and go karts.

Are there still timezones* anywhere?

Think the last one I saw was at Knockers. What used to be one in Bokkie is still kinda there but now it's a different name & company.

*For AN & yaco, like a penny arcade but from the 80s/90s
