Political Correctness

Also, also, this thought cane to me randomly while I was driving…
‘You do realise cooning is a cheese-making process…’
(Also, also, also…it’s the name of a cheese maker And a cheese-making process, what are the odds?)

So was the process named after the guy, or named after something else?

That’s what I thought! Siam isn’t even a country anymore, but somehow that’s offensive??

Are we allowed to talk about Siamese cats?

What about Persian rugs? Are they right out?

My thought was Lou Gehrig’s disease.
‘Are you suggesting I’m a male US baseball player?’
Uh…no. I’m not.

Blessed are the cheesemakers

Or any manufacturers of dairy products, depending on your schism.

Are you sure? I’ve seen plenty of posters say that and much worse with impunity.

Spastic is right out.
It’s up there with talking about poster’s family.

I’m pretty sure, and I reckon I should know.

Flag them then

Then maybe apply these standards consistently.

It doesn’t bother me. Just pointing out that there’s two sets of rules.

Be the change you want to see in the world lad

Play nice, Simmo :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, you kinda missed the point.

Kind of weird that it’s not blocked out.

You might want to mention you were one of them. I’m kind, it was only a day or two.

Nice deflection.

Aboriginal people will use the word when describing someone in their community that’s done something detrimental to the community. FWIW.

So like, broke the law, or done something that’s stereotypical of an indigenous person in a bad way, they’ll call them that.

Upon reflection, I’d argue that ‘shut the f**k up’ directed at somebody personally is far worse than using the term ‘spastic’ generically.

Nothing wrong with pulling someone up if they’ve said something racist/sexist etc. But you highlight your own hypocrisy if in doing so you act like an even bigger tool than them (not suggesting you’ve done this).
