Political Correctness

I don’t mind him, he says a lot of thought provoking stuff.

However in a woke world where you’re not allowed to not get things, walking around calling woman (and trans woman) ■■■■■■■ and then going on to mockingly joke about being transphobic is kinda well deserves what you get really.

Again i’ll revert back to the general starting point, If a white male wandered around on stage dropping the N word about a so called friend of his and proclaiming how he’s blackphobic, how exactly would that go ?

that’s whats wrong in the world imo, people want to pretend the action of what one does is different, based on the perceived context they assume it was meant.
just like football followers want to perceive the action of putting down others (carlton, collingwood fans) cos they suck a lil bit more than us this year, is different then walking up to a fat dude and mocking him cos he’s fatter than you, or some chick cos she’s uglier than you, or insert a 100 different situations that could be inserted.

Like benfti’s analogy, it’s funny how people want others to act a certain way, but fall into the trap of acting the same way as people they proclaim to dislike for their action.

Are you implying that I am doing that?

oh it wasn’t aimed at you, society in general.
each tribe of society wants others to treat them with x, y and z, then turn around and not treat others with it.

it’s funny watching sometimes, then sad that people actually spend so much energy on it.
argh well.

As I said earlier.

One of the main problems was that standup comedy become more mainstream, and you had people joining the fad, who don’t even really enjoy stand up comedy.

Now they have made all these rules about what you can and can’t make fun of. Which isn’t comedy. You don’t decide what is funny for other people.

I just wish they would ■■■■ off, and let people enjoy it.

I really don’t agree with this at all - and just signals to me that you probably live in a right leaning echo chamber, where ‘far left’ material seems to be pointed out to you, and you see it as sensitive, not realising the far right does exactly the same thing (and has been for MUCH longer).

I am a centrist, and hate cancel culture, and find those on the far left can often do more damage than good (e.g. cancelling young people for one off mistakes, and often ask for the solution to discrimination be more discrimination). That said at least they have a strong moral position (generally) to start with.

The far right however is so much worse, and as a generalisation is a group of people who lack any empathy for their fellow human beings whatsoever.

I think both ‘sides’ are underestimating the extent to which their team does it.
Which does it more… I mean it’s a massive field and therefore difficult to calculate.
But if conservatives think they hardly do it at all ever (where It is getting worked up about how things Should be) I’d suggest they think about Christianity, particularly in the US (or perhaps the result of an election).

To take it to another field, I think there are probably equal amounts of people who believe a minority should only be portrayed by actors of the same minority, as there are people who lose their friggin’ minds at the idea of a black, or Latin, or female, or gay Superman.

Kathy Griffin for her parody of D Trump? Yassmin Abdel-Magied got so cancelled for her ANZAC Day opinion that she had to leave the country. The Dixie Chicks found out the hard way that modifying their name is a good way to attract attention from the regressive right.

It certainly goes both ways.

LOL. Wasn’t a parody of Trump. Maybe a parody of ISIS??

The Dixie Chicks thing was nearly 20 years ago.

What ever it was, the regressives weren’t pleased.

Trying to cancel Biden’s Presidency was kinda recent.

Both sides to it every single campaign. It’s politics.

I’m sorry, are you saying there’s another side to the Capitol Hill Incursion story?

And of course it’s politics.
It’s all politics.

The more we try make the world a better place, the more unhappy people there will be in the world.

You think they were going to cancel Biden’s presidency?

I think they tried.
And I think they were kind of upset, which is the point of the discussion.

Maybe some of them thought there was a way to cancel his presidency by doing that.

Only some?

Yes.

Lol.
