But not always, as above.

The Chaser in their prime were farkin ace.

I know a lot of people Think they risk getting shot for their comedy, but The Chaser literally did.

Agreed.

They were much more prevalent before the 2000s.

It’s gone the complete opposite way now. Very strange.

This is because ‘anti-woke’ sentiment isn’t as socially acceptable, whereas the ‘woke’ side has virtue signalling social justice warriors who will scream to all who will listen. The ‘anti-woke’ I feel get more fired up if anything, but more in private / anonymously online, or within their own ‘communities’.

I was reading the fairfax article on Dutton’s cancellation of diversity ‘morning teas’ for the the Defence Force the other day, and thought I’d read the comments - and those comments perfectly reflect the nation we live in and the whole ‘PC’ debate:

  • One half the comments were struggling to understand how Dutton would cancel something so trivial as a morning tea that meant so much to so many people, particularly given the issues with lGBT inclusion in the Defence Force.

  • The other half were comments struggling to understand how the ‘woke’ left could get so fired up over something so trivial as a morning tea, and made up lies like “oh at least the 80% of other people won’t be FORCED to attend these morning teas and can focus on work” (which is a lie, as these events are optional).

For full disclosure I hate both the super ‘woke’ and the anti 'woke. I find those on the far left often are so aggressive in their approach, and try to ‘cancel’ people whilst they are still learning and on a journey to being a better person. Similarly I find those on the far right have almost no empathy, and fail to understand the difficulties of others, and generally are ignorant to their own privilege.

Some chinless bedwetting minister was grizzling Thursday about Tom Gleeson and the way he treats contestants on Hard Quiz.

FFS everyone who goes on it knows exactly what it is, and they have a good chance to fire barbs directly back at him.

If they don’t want that, then go on Mastermind and be a boring little fart.

The minister (presumably C of E) had heaps of mates carrying on about cruel putdown humour too, and I’m thinking…what Tom says isn’t cruel…some of these people really should be ridiculed with their particular obsessions and he’s quite gentle with them.

I’ve seen some really, really cruel comedians, but Tom Gleeson? Get your hand off it, Rev.

Sacked for posting some stuff - from first hand historical accounts - on ANZAC day.

Hard to think of too many who ever really get cancelled.
Basically you go away for a few months and all is forgiven.

That’s the point of the show.

It’s incredibly entertaining and contestants go on the show to trade barbs with him.

Gleeson is great and socially intelligent enough to know if he crossed a line to apologise for it.

Don’t forget , we won the war for you blokes that were busy kicking a footy round the pyramids !

Or maybe the joke didn’t come across well?
And then there was paddy o’vella etc ?

Lol. The religious groups have protested various arts for ages. The right wing groups protesting Australia Day are also pretty worked up. Bolt and his ilk are complaining all the time. Trying to cancel the ABC.

You do realise that it’s the right who’ve been complaining about art for decades, and trying to get it banned? Pisschrist ring a bell? And protesting over attempts to include more representation of non-standard Australian lives.

Both sides try to remove or stop material they deem offensive.

Past ten or so years, one side has been far far more prevalent.

Hardly.

What has changed is the fact the status quo which was prejudiced has been pulled into the light, and the middle started to decide they didn’t like being racist/sexist/bullies/etc. as much anymore. The greatest of defences of bigots that the status quo is fair and reasonable has failed, and now they fail at any change as evidence of being PC. A term they created as a bogeyman to begin with.

Sounds fair and reasonable.

Oh, absolutely clear cut.

The LNP have spent 10 years stacking the ABC leadership with friendlies - and even then, senior types will barely ever respond to interview requests.
Cowards.

Yeeeeaaah…but that’s not the point I made, is it?
The point I made was that hard lefties are far more sensitive than their right wing counterparts and often resort to abuse and bullying.

I’m not familiar with what the right what canceled. Would like to hear more. And as for Bolt? He’s a clown. Nothing should be canceled. The ABC have (or should have) the right to produce whatever content they like. Although the objection to it being government funded is warranted.

In fairness, yesterday I remembered a couple of anti-woke types that also often get triggered. But again, nothing like the woke crowd.

It’s so cute that you defend it.

Perhaps these people might find more success campaigning for the right to have free speech first, before prematurely complaining that their inexistent rights have been violated
