I never understood why specific younger players aren’t on a program to improve their deficiencies especially around endurance until the baseline is ticked off.
Why doesn’t their endurance program continue beyond the transition from preseason to in-season? Why wait for the next preseason? Players like Huss, Gerreyn, Tsatas should be held back until that fitness base is there and join in-season once ready. I think it should be treated just like an injury, until you tick off all the boxes you cannot play at any level.
Is he though? I dont think a off season training session exactly proves that. You can’t outrun a bad diet, and clearly his issue is what he eats, not training
Agree that the talent it there, he’s easily the most natural small forward on the list. He’s very exciting. But unless he sorts himself out, he’ll be without a job in 12 months.
Fair point, especially around diet. PTs always say it’s 90% nutrition regarding fitness/weight loss. Definitely needs a big pre-season.
It’s diet mate. Photos of him running around doesn’t prove he is watching what hes putting his mouth.
sorry didn’t see wobs post pretty much saying this. My bad.
I can’t believe Huss was allowed to get in that condition. I’m in better shape than that and I am 60. Spike spoke about standards, there’s a good place to start.
It’s one picture, it could just be the lighting.
Like every single picture taken of me in the last few years.
In terms of the footy side of things, I’ve been really impressed with Huss this year, especially in the VFL.
Also lol if you’re looking like that: keep your shirt on to avoid the criticism
He’s not the first to blow up after a Mad Monday
Yes I am a bit of a discipline freak, but those guys should be weighing themselves regularly so that they don’t balloon out like that. That looks like several kg. At least he is post season training I guess.
For all we know, he’s current focus is building muscle and putting on size to be more powerful and will strip back later in the year.
Let’s not loose our cool just yet (as bad as a look as it may be)
I hope you are right. What I find frustrating is that I work my butt off to stay fit. These guys are 40 years younger than me and have an amazing opportunity. Don’t let it slip on something so fundamental. When Spike says standards are going to be his number one priority it’s music to my ears.
IRVING MOSQUITO POST ACL BULK PLAN!
Yeah I agree! They have the best opportunity to get their health and fitness at an elite level and many squander it.
Nobody is educated properly about diet, exercise, and the importance of it in your younger years (in school, ect) but these guys are likely getting it on a silver platter. Hopefully he figures out most of the effort is in the kitchen, not on the track.
Nice baggy shirt worn outside the shorts. Paired with good stomach muscles whenever there’s a camera about. In one of my last seasons of soccer we had to borrow another teams kit for a cup final due to a colour clash. We won, I got the cup, striped shirts. Still got some photos showing the stripes gently contouring around my beer belly.
Especially these days. People see an oversized shirt and assume you’re jacked
How bad is it that he got games with that physique….
Was it Kyle Reimers mum again?
The problem these days is that you can’t fat shame people. That’s why I’m still fat.
