I never said we should move them on unless we get a first rounder. hard to move them on when no wants our crap players you can’t force teams to take them
If teams are interested in the like of Guelfi,Gresham etc happy to trade them and get what we can.
Just to clarify. A coach will work on ball movement, defensive schemes etc. obviously we are working on quicker ball movement this off season heavily etc. I get the sense he is more talking about a unique game plan. Like how we see a Ross Lyon unique historic system. I sense he is saying coaches are more focusing on fundamentals of footy today which includes quick ball movement, skills, positioning, defence, ground ball gets, clearance work, contest work. Keep pushing hard to perfect these areas and the system works itself out naturally. My issue is do we have the coaches to do that.
Big discrepancy in training reports with Patrick Ryan (Begbie?) claiming the ball hardly touched the the ground while bombercross lamented the poor skills and errors by foot. Who do we believe?
My observation is that those who have close ties to the club (Scooter [CJ], P.Ryan) are inherently more positive than the Blitzers who go and watch without being affected by all the positive messaging coming from the club.
Could be a case of unconscious bias from those with the strong relationships looking for confirmation of the positive narrative that they are hearing rather than being equally attuned to the good and bad unfolding.
I think for me my positivity has been in the professionalism of the program Inness has setup. That was big for me as it needed addressing badly. I have stated a few times on the pod I am however still unsure on the talent of the list and how we will play in 2026. Also noting I am waiting for full ground match practice to get a better idea on some players. Always can see potential in a number of players but I stress i want to see the club bring it out.
I think whats becoming clear is most teams have the same “game plan” or only slight variations of it. And then fans cant see any difference they automatically assume there is “no game plan”
Every time I watch a top team play like Brisbane I don’t think of what game plan they are using all I see is a group of players who are elite at competing, tackling, pressure
I don’t think coaches have multiple plans. I think that’s something the fans think teams should have, but most just rely on their better players to step up.
